2001 Acura CL check engine light

I just bought a 2001 CL, I have a check engine light. Took it to autozone and it comes back with code PO740. Torque converter clutch solenoid. Does anyone know what I am looking at here? Replace tranny or can just the solenoid be replace? I love the car and will do whatever it takes to get it good. Car still runs but does occasionally stick in gear and RPM up to about 5000 RPM. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Replace the tranny. You want to replace with a transmission from 2006 - 2007 accord V6. Search it lots of info on the swap.

The automatic transsmision on the tl type s and cl type s 2001-2003 have a recall they are really bad also its cousin the honda odyssey van 2002-2004 only the manual acura cl-s 6 speed’s transmissions are the best but theres less than about 2700 i believe. You could use other manuals but its all just a head ache with those automatics ..try adding a transsmisin cooler when you do put the new tranny in should save you SOME life.
