2001-2003 CL-Type S Question

Hello. I am considering on buying an acura cl-type s (2001-2003). I was wondering about how good these cars are and are they're any major issues I should for certain years? Im actually considering on buying one with 55k miles.. how long will this car last? Ive heard Hondas and Acuras last long. Any information would be great, I would love some insight on this car from current owners

You could try and do a search .. This shows every bit of information you can ask for about our CL-S'.

Otherwise, If you're getting an automatic, which is '01 and '02, and some of '03, then watch out for them glass trannies .. Also, rattles are a common problem ..

As for me, the car's on its second transmission since 3x,xxx miles, I'm now at 79,800. No rattles, and the only problem I have are the 10+ dents on the sides of my car.

Yeah, he's absolutely right. The rattles get really bad with mileage. Especially if you have a sub in the car. That doesn't help the situation at all. lol.

Also, the transmission is another so-so big deal. (to me it's not. Most other people freak out about it and can't live with the idea that their trans may die)

Great sport car, love everthing about the car.If you thinking about gettin one the insurance is usually pretty high in all states, because the insurance co says they are one of the most stolen cars. Other than that watch your speed because cops love em more than Acura owners themselves!

^^ What everyone above said.

How much are you going to pay for it? Because I think that should play into it...

01-02 should be around 10-12k , 03 6-speeds around 15-18k+ from private owners

Damn dude, I would sell you my CL-S with 125k and $4,000 in mods for $10,500 and put $1,000 in escrow for a year if you had any problems with the car I would let you tap that account.

Thats how confident I am of my car and that you wouldn't have any problems.

I can only recommend the 2003 6 speed version, it wasn't offered any other year.
if you get an 01 or 02 pay very low, for the auto tranny issue.

I have no rattles now, but the sunroof did and the dealer fixed it.

You may be color blind so I wont get on you for ignoring the big red link up top....

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2539666

This is what everyone is going to say:
The 6-speed will offer you no worries what so ever, just replace teh clutch and ur good to go and they are worth the extra money.
Teh auto..... NOT VERY MANY (when compared to all 2nd gen CL-Ss) are affected by the godawful inevitable failure and if so Acura will take care of you. Which is why they are on average $3-5k less than the 6spds (as long as you're under warranty, then if it fails and you get it replaced.... well read the link I gave you it will make you as informed I am, prolly even more since I didn't read it all)

- In essence, it all depends on you, me personally ever since I learned the magical 3rd pedal I don't think I'm ever going to go back to two pedals atleast for awhile.... So it's all your personal taste.

also read my n00b thread... https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188123

welcome to A-Zine!!
