2 questions on 6MT CLS

1) Do we think it will get a limited slip differential like on the ITR? Is this something that is used in any other Acura/Honda?

2) If Acura adds wider/stickier Z-rated tires as stock do you think they will open up the top end limiter? I assume it is set at 149 cause of the tires being V rated ...

Just curious on your thoughts as we (especially Shawn S and I) wait through the last week before the big 03 CLS 6MT announce!

There might be a good chance you will see the tranny have an lsd. As far as the limiter is concernced, I wouldt be surprised if its the same as now.

I agree with spiroh, I don't think that the speed limiter will change. It's set at 149 not because of the tires (although they may play a factor), but b/c of aerodynamic limits of the car. It would take a lot more horsepower to get this car moving over 150mph, and the rumored bump to 280 or 290hp won't be enough.......

I always figured the speed limiter had something to do with the government (maybe that's why they called them governors in the carb days!) Sort of like in the 70's when it was a law that speedometers weren't supposed to read over 85 mph...

Maybe they do it for insurance reasons???

If you paralyze yourself doing 149 mph, I doubt you would have an easy time suing Acura because the car didn't have Z-rated tires.

I think I'll look into this cause it's kind of interesting...

I think that it woulf be possible to go 150mph. Not only will the car have 290hp dont forget its putting an extra 10% down to the wheels because its manual. Either way there is no point in talking about the 6spd CL-S until it gets here.

Any more thoughts on the limited slip differential? What else could Acura have up their sleeves for traction?

Dang ... LA Auto Show can't get here fast enough

Both the ITR and NSX have LSDs. Just food for thought...

Edit: Used both twice on accident...
Edit2: Prelude SH has a LSD too
