Wierd, you should have been able to beat him more or less. Unless he had a turbo or somethin. What subaru was it?

Although I've never driven one, the 4speed auto in the 2.2CL must be really slow cuz impreza L only has a 110HP 1.8L engine which cant be that fast, espcially with the extra weight of AWD.

Oh Well, it happens sometimes. if your serious about being able to race i'd suggest a transmission swap, or perhaps look for a equivalent car with a manual, or a 3.0...they just arent fun enough with an auto. I still love the first gen CL, i wish mine was a different colour (its silver-gray)...i really dig ur black paint job.

I don't understand the point of racing a 2.x w/ Auto?

If the 2.3CL stick is fairly peppy (0-60 in 9secs), and still not that fast....how can a 2.2 Auto compete?

Our 2.x are fairly hefty, so to race against a lighter 4-cyl may not give you the end results you were hoping for.

I am reluctant to race against alot of the Hondas & Acks that are heavily favoured here in Markham (Toronto North).

Heck even the new domestics are proving damn faster than my 2.3CL

I have a 2.2 with stick and its plenty fast..of course I dont race BMWs or Mustangs or simply large engine cars. There isnt really places to race in Ottawa also. I've had plenty of ricer civics/integras try to cut me off in traffic or get in my after a red light...one has yet to succed.

all CLs are slow unless you have an H22 turbo in it and if you think your CL is fast try racing people with real cars not just old stock cars with just a muffler and a wing

Well no duh....its not really a CL anymore after anyways. Im glad to have one as it is. If i wanted something fast, i wudnt buy a CL in the first place. The added expenses of all the necessary mods(engine swap, turbo, suspension etc), might as well save a bit and get an WRX or something.
