2.25 or 2.5 inch piping for custom Exhaust?

Hey guys,

What should I go with for my six speed. I know some say 2.5 and some say 2.25. I don't want to lose any bottom end power. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've been considering designing a complete cat-back system for our car. But that is a ways off and I would be going with 2.5 inch on the main with 2.25 after the Y.

For N/A keep stock size or you will lose power. F/I can increase size!!!

Sizing is driven by where you want to gain, and are willing to lose power. generally, a smaller pipe is better for mid-range response. A bigger pipe will hurt mid-range but allow better breathing at higher revs. Given your statement, you need to be near stock size and not increase it at all. on my 280Z I went from stock 2" to 2.25 and lost power below 2500, but gained it above 4000.

Good advice. I don't like how any of the exhausts look on the CL so I am going custom regardless. I don't want to lose any power, but I want to see some gains. Is it even worth upgrading the stock piping? Maybe I will just get a custom axle-back done. So would it be best to go 2.25 from front to back or go 2.5 then down to 2.25 at the y-pipe?

Get a custom axleback becuase if you touch the stock piping you will loose power somewhere in the rpm range. This is why it took comptech soo long to release the B-pipe

IMO, I would leave it alone as you really won't gain anything (except for sound levels) as the stock system flows pretty well as it is. I'm going to eventually design one because I do have the blower and will have other things and will be making 350 - 400 WHP; that is a bit much for the stock pipes to handle.
