well this is the most I ever filled I must have been on fuelems ,went 401 miles on 17.401 gal of gas, milage = 23.05mpg I guess it does hold 17.75 gal.

 

you may to that number 2-3 Gallons!

 

Sheesh testing the limits eh? LOL Why would you ever take it that low!?!? Or are you just in good shape? Because you'll be pushing if you go much lower

Best I did was 500 miles on 16 gallons (approximately) I posted it a few months ago. All highway driving though.

 

Careful, you can fuck up your fuel pump if there isn't enough gas in the tank.

 

Manual says nothing about messing up the fuel pump.. I think thats a myth. The tank does not hold 17.75, it holds 17.2 gallons. I guess the filler neck holds a bit.

 

 

The manual doesn't say drive the car in 4th gear either, but many fo the dealers recommend it to make for smoother shifts. But hey...up to you...

 

Try it... once the pump clicks... try to pump in short bursts and the CLS will swallow some 2-3 Gallons more easily!

 

I got the same size of tank as you guys(don't ask me why on a bigger they don't put on a bigger tank) but normally at 400 miles my little gas pump light comes on.
although once I did run out of gas i was trying to make it to a certain station and I missed my estimation by 10-15 miles. mom brought me a 5 gallon can of gas i put about 2 gallons in and got to the station
