"100 Cars Involved in Md. Highway Accidents"

"FINZEL, Md. (AP)--More than 100 cars driving in heavy fog crashed in a series of accidents on a western Maryland interstate Friday, killing at least two people and injuring more than 30, authorities said.

As many as 150 cars could have been involved in the accidents, but officials were waiting for the fog to thin to evaluate the damage, Garrett County Emergency Director Brad Frantz said..."

There is gonna be a TON of cars on the roads this weekend. Here in the NE we're gonna get some crappy weather all weekend so that equals many more accidents to come. :thumbsdn:

That's just typical maryland drivers. I'm actually surprised there were that many cars because usually when it drizzles, people pull over to the shoulder and flash their hazards. When its pouring they don't even bother pulling off to the shoulder. They'll stop in the middle of the road.

Yep, it looks like they closed like 20 miles of highway because of it.

That happened up here in Mass on 95 south in the winter....There was a minor accident at the bottom of a hill and everyone slamed their brakes and slid into everycar in front of them. I seen it from the other side of the highway.

I hope everyone okay. But being a firefighter(and I know some EMT stuff) It's for fire depts to take care of this in a timely manner. because you got a lot of problems
#1. If you haven't heard you got the "golden hour"(if the person pretty bad)
from the time the accident happens to the time you have them at the hospital. (usually its our dept (remember we are volunteer entirely) from the time they drop tones to the time we are on the scene is 15-20 mins(which is about average)(because we got to drive to station and drive to the scene)
#2. usually with that big of a car wreck you got more than 1 or 2 cars so crunched up you gotta do extracation.(which is jaws of life)(I know use more than one set of jaws but most depts have only 1 set of extracation tools)(jaws,spreaders,cutters,ram and your generator) and even if they call them when you get called out you only got 2 teams on a possible 100 cars running Jaws of life. and remember the rules of"the golden hour"
#3. EMTs hate this because usually they only like to take 1 person per squad(they can get 2 in most of them) but they usually only take 2 unless they already got the backup squad on the scene.
we had a 3 car wreck about a year ago(all 4 people needed transported to the hospital) The Medic district had to bring their main squad,back up squad, then nearby town had to do the same to.
we had to WORK FAST on this one car because we were starting to get close to our 40 min limit(because we give the squad 20 mins to drive to the hospital). she lived and was okay. just I was worried cause she was losing blood FAST.
