As far as I know the CL doesn't ahve a factory sub...mine didn't! You can add a Infinity Basslink II for $270 total including a power kit. I just did this and it sounds great and fits in the rear corner of the trunk. Tons of space left in your trunk and you don't have to take out your headunit to install the sub. All you gotta do is run +/- wire and then tap into the rear speaker wire coming from the factory amp

The TL has the sub stock. Not the CL.

Are you looking to replace your rear speakers?

The CL doesn't have a factory sub. At least my 03 CLs doesn't

Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the the 3rd gen TL's have a stock sub, as far as the second gen tl/cl they do not have a stock sub. In terms of replacing the sound system people have replaced the stock bose amp in the tl/cl's in addition to the sound system

The 2G CL does not have a subwoofer from the factory. The 2G TL does have a stock sub from the factory. Its located right behind the 3rd brake light.

Yeah I was mistaken. I saw a thread on a sub upgrade for the TL. Anyway I'm sure it's been asked a thousand times but I could not find the answer. Can I upgrade the factory amp and all speakers? I want to keep the stock head unit.

Its because I believe their speakers are smaller so they make up for it with the sub. Our 6x9s put out the bass.

I've got two 12" MTX audio's and a 350watt amp hooked up to the stock head unit.

yes that cool.
u usually have a STAGE 1 2 3.
= PREAMP > Mini-AMP (WHich is part of ur CD/tape player usually not powerful enuff to run subs)> AMP(which usually runn ur subs)
Or

Preamp> Mini AMP > AMP > Crossover >OUTPUT (LOws + HIGHS or even Midrange)

so in the case of the TL = cd/changer or player (Preamp + MiniAMP) > BOSE > SUB AMPS( MTX, jackhammer, sony whteva).

size almost has nothing to do with it. they have more speakers period.

they just added it because the tl is less sporty and more luxury when compared to the cl. (6mt for example)

all the new luxury cars don't even come with m/t option (example lexus)

The 2nd Gen TL has the Amp built into the headunit. It powers the 4 door speakers. The sub has a small separate amp for the sub. Its a POS.

Unless you have the hole cut out of the rear deck it would be pointless to try to add it. You could probably get more bass by upgrading your stock 6x9 to a better speaker and adding a small amp to power them.
