03 CL-S 6mt VS. 98 M3 a/t

I have an 03 CL-S 6m/t with I/H/E and lowered. My friend has been talking trash that he could beat my car, and according to the stats a 98 M3 sedan runs a flat 14 stock. He has an intake and a chip. So I said this should be a good race. First we raced from a 5mph roll..........I beat him really bad, probably by about 6-7 cars up to 100mph. So then he said since he has an auto it slowed him down when downshifting into first from a roll. So he wanted to race from a stop. I hate racing from a stop because I always either spin all the way through first or I wheel hop. But since I killed him I said sure lets race from a dig. As soon as we took off I spun all the way through first and wheel hopped all the way through second, as soon as I hit third my car grabbed and I started walking him again really bad. That was the worst start I could of had and I still killed him. I cant imagine how bad I would beat him if I had a good solid launch without spinning or hopping. I know a little spinning is good but once it starts on my car it gets worse. Now I know some of you are gonna say " there must of been something wrong with that car" but I drove it before we raced and it felt pretty fast. Fast enough where I started to worry. Are these CL's really that fast or do I have an odd one? I once raced a turbo cobalt with all the bolt on's and an upgraded turbo, I mean this thing sounded sick and everytime he shifted from redline a blue flame shot out his exhaust. It sounded like a jet. We raced 3 times up to 110mph and we were side by side every time. And the other race was with an 01 cobra manual with I/H/E/P 410 gears, drag radials, I mean this thing was pretty sick, we raced three times up to about 110mph and he only got me by one car and that was when I had a slipping clutch. I dont know. I just know if I take my car to the track im going to have a horrible 60 ft time from spinning or hopping and thats going to slow me down.

E36 M3s arent fast. If you had lost to automatic E36 then we'd have problems.

I would feather the throttle more from a stop so you arent spinning/hopping.

Nice kill, you shouldn't have trouble beating a manual one from the outcome with the auto that you described to us.

And yeah, most manual e36 M3's have a tough time trapping over 97 mph, and I don't think BMW's automatics were faster than their manuals back in the 90's, so I'm not surprised at the outcome of this race.

First off, it says he has an 01'. They didn't make 6-Speeds in 01'. Second, it says he has a "6mt icebox", which in those words imply that he got an icebox meant for a 6mt, to fit an auto.

....All this unless he swapped his car to 6mt
