I thought the WS6 package made then car a transam... no ws6, then it's not a transam (at least that's how it was in the old days).
2002 Trans Am has 310hp, weighs 3500 lbs, RWD, auto
2003 CLS has 260hp, weighs 3446lbs, FWD, 6spd
With 50 more hp and just 50lbs more, looks like I'd have to give it to the Pontiac.
Like Nashua said, it's a solid 13 second car.

Either way you will get smoked. The FIREHAWK will hand you your ass on a platter.
yes there are trans ams that are not ws6(opton package)
theres also slp firehawks(fastest)
if you get a great launch and he burns too much rubber, you gotta shot
otherwise, watch his butt

I thought I forgot something
Torque is the reason why I laugh everytime I see torqueaholic's user name. You'd figure a guy with torqueaholic as a user name would at least drive a car that is know for its torque (like a v8 or a deisel powered truck). Nope, torqueaholic drives a honda that has it's hp in the upper rpm band and is definitely not known for it's torque.
Motors that produce more torque then hp are for REAL torqueaholics.
i'd say if you had headers light weight wheels and really sticky tires...pulleys and a strong car you'd have a chance to 60-70 mph at which point he should go right by you...however you dont so save your self unless you dont care about the loss and it's just for fun....with a good launch you could be one car back 0-60
F1 cars are not known for their torque either... they spin their engines to 14,000 rpms!...
It is more tough to design a high reving engine then big bore torquye one!.
BTW, you gain with Honda engine, low emission and GREAT MPG!

The WS6 package was an option on both Trans-Am Pontiacs and the Firebird Formulas. Yes, you can have a non-WS6 Trans-AM.
Being the fact that I drive a Z28 and a Honda I guess I think its funny sometimes because there are people who think that the Z28's and Trans-Am/Formulas are slow and less powerful than the SS's and WS6's
All the WS6 and SS packaged added was the Ram Air hoods, had optional Free Flow Exhaust systems, a slightly better Torsen Limited Slip rear, 17 inch wheels and tires, stiffer springs, etc. The result was about 20 hp and 15 lb/ft of torque over the base LS1 powerd Z28's and Trans Am/Formulas.
IE Base Z28 was rated at 310hp this past year and the SS was rated at 335hp
As far as a racing situation anyone can buy a fast car, but you have to drive it. With a skilled driver the Trans Am would be down in the mid 13's and would thus beat you.

Back in the '70's it wasn't like that. If you wanted the WS6 package you got a transam. That was in the days before corporate motors, when the chevy had a chevy motor and pontiac had pontiac motors (and olds, buick, etc). Damn, I guess I'm getting old

Nashua, I know
I used to drive a V8 ford, now I drive an Acura
Kinda says something.

Actually, those LS1 motors get great gas mileage, I made a 600 mile trip in my dads vette and got 32 mpg!!! (that was also w/ an avg speed of around 90 mph so you know I got on it a few times, about 200 of those miles included twistie roads so it wasn't all a straight shot)
don't ever see that happen in a CL-S
