01 GT Vert vs. CL-S

I was just minding my own business, riding the GSP here in NJ, belly full of Double Whopper w/Cheese and Bacon, looking to get to my buddy's house for some NFS: Hot Pursuit 2, when a pair of HID headlights came bearing down on me...

Well, the HIDs meant it wasn't a cop, so I had nothing to fear in taking off...traffic was kinda light, so I wouldn't hafta worry about a reckless encounter with the offending tailgater.

I downshifted to 3rd, rev matched and took off with this car hot on my heels , then I thought about this forum and said, 'oh hell no, I must not lose this match'. I started pulling away ever so slightly and by the middle of 4th (no idea of speed), i decided, I'm not gonna miss my exit, and got off.

Well, the exit goes to another hiway (280 for you North NJ guys), and the CL-S (i let him get in front so that I could see the wheels and read the trunk)came too. got back around him (slow car in his way) as we came around to the onramp and from approximately 25~30mph (he got back behind me) and 3 honks of his horn (!), it was on again........this time(2nd gear), it wasn't even close...

I looked back and just saw the lights start to fade. I guess he gave up when I left him like a stray dog.

You know, they are so mundane that I forget that I have them...

3.55 gears
K&N Filter
MAC CAI (MAF - TB only...elbow into the fenderwell slowed me down .4!)
1/2" upper intake spacer
B&M Ripper shifter
Nitto 555R drag radials 275/40-17

I can't see more than a 5-8hp gain, maybe moved the torque band up a little in the RPM range...

The gears pull only .28 more per rotation of the wheel than stock, not much of a difference...

Thanks for the compliments!

spacers "space" your throttle body further away from the intake.

On fuel injection where the fuel injectors are at the base of the intake it increases the low-end torque. (in general)

On carburated it increase top-end horse power. )in general)

Yep, that's it....

I haven't gotten a decent run wuth the gears and the tires, so i can only go by best time with 3.73s and stock tires with 2.0 60's and spinning 2nd and a little 3rd...

14.01@98.something...can't find the &%$@ timeslip!

at any rate, take note that i also ran a 14.08 bone stock, however there was only a chirp in second...also with 2.0 60's

I figure when i get the 4.10s next month and a new set of DRs, i'll put down 13s without breaking a sweat...

as long as whatever gremlin found its way into my car (ran a few lowly 14.4@96s for some reason...having all sorta pf trany problems, too...hmmmmm)

but it still runs away from quite a few cars on the street, go figure...
