01 CLS vs. Ferrari 360 vs. Stage 2 WRX vs. Mustang GT

Crusing with some buddies next to the ocean, and my friend points to the rear. In my rearview mirror I see a yellow 360 Challenge. He was pushing the car and we were having some back and forth between me and some others.

We get a nice clearing and I get along side of it. I shift to 2nd at 60 and I hear his motor rev. Next thing I know I'm flooring it into 3rd, he is right along side of me. I pull 3rd as long as it can go and at 110, he was right next to me. Shift into 4th, and the CL falls on its face, and the 360 walks about 3-4 cars where he stays while i'm holding it to 120.

I chatted with him a bit, nice guy. All I can say about the ferrari is that it's euro imported and has filters/exhaust. I'm pretty sure it was a clean race because he asked me if I had the beamer parked next to him, I said no, I was the black acura on the parkway. He goes Oh! That thing is pretty quick.

I raced a WRX Stage 2 with a few other things. Roll from 40 and it was even until 70, around 80 when vtec starts to kick in, i pull away about a car. Roll from 20, I put about 2 cars on him, and then another 1 car at 80-90, had to shut it down fast.

Two Mustang GTs:
1. Midpipes, Catback, Tune - We run from 60 and I second late start, side by side all the way up until 110 where he adds about 1-2 car lengths.
2. Not sure on mods, I think exhaust/cams - Roll form 60, even until about 100 where i start to pull a tiny bit, but had to shut it down.

Had some fun with a stock s2000, pretty quick for stock, but i pulled easily after 90, and a 5.0 GT too. nice day, now i'm gonna be arrested.

Sorry to bust into ur thread but u really think people are going to believe that u was keeping up or barely next to a ferrari 360 modena. I ur CL was running with a s/c and packing some NOS maybe u should be able to be running aside him.

That is just my opinion..........................

No way at all. Even the 360 Modena spider does 0-60 4.5 & 1/4 12.9...... The Challnge is faster than that.... so the CL even S/C and Intercooled wouldnt have a chance...

you guys are magazine racers. ferrari claimed higher numbers on the challenge. do some searching and you''ll find out it's heavier than a regular 360 and makes less power. not to mention it redlines at 8,000 so the 360 needs to get high in rpms to do some damage. you guys can call BS all you want, but i dont make shit up on the boards and i have a ton of eye witnesses. the ferrari raced multiple other cars and he had no problem being completely honest with me. i won't lie, the driver was HEAVY set and he had a passenger. i know cars and i know exotics, and i know the 360 can be a pig at certain rpms which explains why i hung with him where i did. 2nd gear tops out well over 90 and 90-110 is where CL is in its sweet spot. i have a few other tricks on my car most dont have.

dont believe me, search for typeRs videos of him keeping up with rousch mustang and numerous other FI cars. you just need to know how to prep the CL. typeR ran low 13s before his final modifications, i believe the CL can make it into 12s n/a, its tough but doable. digs are tough for us, but we can be highway demons, and its worthless for me to race a 360 after 120, but 60-110 is another story. why would i lie? and the 360 had no problem pushing his car.

actually..........I thought the Challenge Stradale was the stripped down "race/autox" version of the 360

1) The Ferrari 360 F1 makes 400hp and weighs in at a little less than 3100lbs, the 360 Challenge makes 425hp and weighs a little over 2800lbs.

2) ANYTHING that does 0-100 in 9.x seconds > CL @ any speed

3) Who has a CL that gets 12 sec. quarters N/A, prove it and ill belive you. Im not trying to start anything, i just dont believe you

hate to call the . But I know all to well about the 360 and CL. just look at my pic. I would not even have to down shift to walk a cl buddy. Now if you told me you had a cl55 benz and had some work done, i would not have a problem with the story.

like i said, thats what ferrari claims. i've seen a stock 360 beat over 2 challeneges in a row from highway rolls. ferrari lied about the challenge. don't believe me, that's fine.

remember we started at 60, which is a little over half the speed either us would be at in a 1/4 mile, it's a different story.

also, in all fairness, i weight about 140, id say the driver of the 360 was at least 300 with a passenger who was probly close to 200.

Ok, that makes no sense. Sorry. Why would Ferrari lie about it?

Also, don't mean to pee in your soup but in any race between you and any 360, you would be . Sorry, but he was messing with you more than likely.

ferrari didnt necessarily lie, they just failed to reveal information about it. it's been proven on scales / dynos.

looking at mor and more pictures, i think i confused the 360 and the euro 360 with the 360 challenge. i think it was an imported 360 and not an imported challenge. this was my mistake. but the race wasnt. numerous eyewitnesses heard the ferrari screaming. ;] again, believe what you want.

but i still stand that a states 360 will beat a stateside challenge. thats been proven.

too many specifics on what 'kind' of 360 you 'paced' with. on even coming close to a 360. if i drove a ferrari and saw an acura trying to pace with me, i'd mess with you too.

I'd say you'd keep up if you had a turbo set up running 10 psi. Other than that I'm not seeing the CL come even close to a 360

Allright enough with u saying u kept with a ferrari, I would have expected this story coming from a ricer driving a Honda Civic or something. This is a shame to CL owners.

ok, please bring your CLS down here to ATL and I will get the biggest person I can find to rid in the 360 and someone else drive my CLS, and you driving yours and we will see who wins!!

Sorry there buddy, ferrari has no reason to lie about any numbers they put out. They have some of the worlds best exotic sports cars!! Expensive, but great.
Of boy was playing you.
