01 cls vs. 5.0 mustang

got in to a race which i thought i woud win easily and the out come was a little different.

we went from a 25 roll i was in 1st gear. he was honking.i really couldn't hear his horn so i was a little late on going. apon delivery of full throttle i was approximitly 1/2 car back. from there it stayed dead even untill 100 when i put probably 1/2 car apon him. cool guy and good race.

my mods.
01' cls 5 a/t
Aem intake
Obx headers
C/T Exhaust
C/T tranny cooler
Mugen T-stat
Mugen Fan Switch

his mods
92. fox body mustang

96 explorer 5.0 that has the following...
lunati 51014 cam
fms 1.6 roller rockers
gt40 cast heads
3.55 rear end gear
flowtech shorty headers
mac off road h-pipe
explorer upper and lower intake manifold
bbk cold air intake
proform electric fan
b&m ripper shifter
RAM HD clutch

i new he had a few things done after we raced. but when he ran down the list i was dumbfounded.

He should have killed you, imo. The fox body's are ~ 300lbs lighter than you car, and if he was running correctly that combo should be good for ~ 250rwhp/300+rwtq, which is a definite edge over a I/H 5AT CL-S.

Was he auto or 5 speed, cuz that makes a huge difference.

Anyways, good kill

I think it was part/entire engine from a 96 explorer dumped into a '92 mustang body.

The 96 Explorer had an optional 5.0L OHV V8 (same as the Mustang's), and actually the intake is an upgrade over the Mustang's. The Expolorer intake is basically a cheap mans Cobra intake.
