So in the summer of 2007 i bought this pretty sick 2001 Acura CL type S non navi, auto. Its San Marino Red with ebony interior with almost 60K even. Dont get me wrong i love this car, but i was looking through the car paper the other day and came across a 2004 Acura TL Black and it either has black leather or like that crazy tan. No Navi and 34K for $18,999. It also happens to be a 5speed I bought my car for $13,500 and i think i got a pretty good steal on it, it had like 53K on it when i bought it.
I was wondering:
1- what you guys think i might get for my car
2-do you guys think its worth gettin rid of the CLS for the TL?
3-any problems with the TL?

TL has the same shit transmission for one, at least the 04-05's do. That, and the coupe is so much better.

 

IIRC only the early 04 models had the transmission issues.

 

its 6spd not 5 spd.. and id take the TL anyday of the week....

the CL resale is shit.

carmax would only give me 5k. granted i do have 100k on the clock but still.

 

Not true at all. The 05's seem to be dropping like flies right about now.

 

It depends on where your at, what you will get on a trade in. If I were you and is what I am gonna do if I decide to get rid of my CLS,is I am gonna sell it outright to a private seller, and get WHAT I WANT for the car and not what i will be offered. Also how long you have till the CL is paid for? Do you want another 4-5 yr payoff??? I would def take that into consideration when selling a vehicle. And as far as gettin rid of the CL for the TL, no I dont think that it is worth it, maby for the 3rd gen TLS though w 6speed!!

 

the whole money part isnt really the issue, i paid the guy in cash when i bought my car so i dont have loans, but you did remind me that this is at a "joe shmo lot" which means id have to pay taxes. i didnt pay taxes on the CL cuz "my cousin gave it to me as a gift"

 

as for the car being a 6 or 5spd, i looked online at like edmunds and it said that some came in a manual. never said 5 or 6. the article i read about the car said 5 spd so i just went with it, im going to "take a look" at the car on Sunday so ill maybe take a pic or to. Its got the aero kit on it

o yea and for car max giving you 5. All people who buy your car except for private give you crap, but carmax is the only place that will buy your car if they know its a GOOD car. At least the one on Ft. Lauderdale Florida does. which means you car is prob sweettttt

 

It's a 5 speed auto or 6 speed manual.

#3 sounds like a TL thread.

Don't be suprised if this gets closed if it's more about the TL and less about the CL. If it isn't about a 2nd Gen CL then it's off-topic and doesn't belong in this forum. That's why we have TL and Cartalk forums.
