friend of mine around the corner has an 03 Evo VIII. I'll ask him for a race and get it on film.

is there much difference between the 03 & the 04?

You will lose...

Another thing, you don't even have a license yet so why talk about racing??

He might just get his wish asking a 15 y.o. to race.

I don't think it would be an absolute outright kill if the race occurs in a straight line from a roll...but you will lose.

These stats aren't of the lightened versions:

Car-Stats.com Report for 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
Obtained from C&D June, 2003
0-60: 5 Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 13.6
1/4 Speed: 101

Just like my run-in w/ the STi, it really all depends on the launch of those AWD beasts. Mess up the launch and the advantage is gone. From a roll, the S/C CLS can definitely hang in a straight line.

They trap low 100's; that is not even an issue for a blown CL-S. Especially a 6MT.

this is fucking ridiciulous.....

an Evo against a CL-S? ay-yi-yi...btw, most Evo drivers run low 13's easy all day long. Some even break into the 12s stock. Sure you'll find some retarded drivin evo's hitting mid-high 14's, but this is an easy low 13sec car and will kick the living shit out of you. Pointless question, period.

btw, I meant mid-high 13's...

they'd still burn a stock cl-s from a roll

Eh... I used to beat EVO VIII's when I was NA... now unless it has MAJOR work done, its no contest. A stock CL-S (auto or 6spd) cannot beat a stock EVO VIII.

OWNAGE!!!

That said, I hope these kids realize that running someone with real cars is NOT Gran Turismo; if (hopefully not when) you hit an obstacle (tree, wall, animal, people, etc,...), you'll hurt more than just your lap times.

What do you consider major work? I'd like to see what this no contest race would be like.

Evo and STi doesnt really need MAJOR works to run fast.

a freaking catback exhausts gives 20 HP to the wheel.. and a CAI gives another 10 WHP... i hate FI cars.... they get their mod $ worth and we get like 1 HP from CAI if we r lucky.

Vishnu tuning is in my town here and they do both Subarus and Mitsubishi's. Their stage 0 kit (XEDE engine managment and cat-back) will run high 12's. Doesn't really cost much either. The owner of the place is driving around their prototype stage 2 car that you can see in some magazines. That one will run mid to low 11's.

Okay not MAJOR as in engine internals (which EVO's rarely have)... but what I mean is:

(1) Upgraded turbo
(2) Upgraded IC
(3) Upgraded piping
(4) Bigger Injectors
(5) Some type of ECM upgrade

My buddy's EVO VIII (TODA stroked motor) won the recent shootout in terms of performance
and it is making like 430-470whp running 11's.

surely you people do see that there is something wrong when a 24 year old lets a 15 year old without his license race in a 260hp car against an EVO (which will ultimately dominate)

Ah, that's not really considered major as evo's go. Thats why I figured I'd ask what your definition of major work would be. Because an evo w/all the boltons will pull easy 11's. Once you start getting internals done you're talking easy 10's and even 9's.

ive always wondered why anybody would even want their cars to run 9 second quarter miles...i mean yeah the bragging rights are cool...but in the end you're wasting a lot of gas and possibly increasing the chances of fatal situations..i personally wouldn't want my car to be THAT fast..though i wouldn't mind 12 to 13 second 1/4 times...9 is just pushing it

Well, it could. If you are married to Lorena Bobbit, losing your larger penis could result in too much blood loss and subsequent death.

just got back from running my buddy. This was quite possibly the worst set of racing vids ever. Didn't have someone to hold the camera, and we botched just about every run.

This was probably the best out of 5-6 runs.

He would blast off the line, and I would reel him in pretty quickly.

we're gonna go back out and get some better vids.

i don't know much about evo's, but i do know the easy street wrx was the quickest STi in the world and it ran high 9's on a good day.

i'm sure the same is possible for an EVO, but to call it easy?
