01 CL-S auto vs 08 Maxima
Around 2 in the morning, coming back from my girl's house i stopped next to a spanking new white maxima. the light turned green, i had my VSA off already ( normally keep it off when i feel like going fast and you never know who you gonna meet on road anyways) gave it some gas and it was on. maxima wasnt even close, i saw his lights in my rear view. but i slowed down as I was doing 120 km/h in a 80 zone and we have this law here in ontario that if you are 50 over speed limit, you are an alleged "street racer"
. it took him a while to catch up, we started again at the next lights, same story as suprisingly he got owned pretty bad. he would eventaully catch up tho. we took the same turn at the next lights and the guy showed the peace and had a big grin (thats respect). he was heading to my area so i was following him still. he later pulled over and complimented me about the car. he was actually coming back from his prom, his dad bought him that car on his graduation
!!! he said his maxima was 3.5 with 260 HP.
My boy just got a 04 G35 MT, and the other guys at work keep on pushing us for a race. Any experiences with G35s, i believe it will be close one.

I used to have a 00 maxima. They had a 3.0 liter and 220HP. The new maximas have a lot more HP, but are tanks! Try racing a 02 or 03 maxima. They have the 3.5L engine and a lot less weight.
02-03 maximas are damn fast off the line b/c they have a lot of torque, but don't really have any top end.
My dad has a 2005 automatic 350z which I drive sometimes with the sport shifter. I have raced a manual 2006 Mustang GT and pulled the entire race up to about 110 from 55mph.
I wouldn't race the G35 unless it is a 4 door. A coupe rather it be auto or manual will leave you in their rear view

i ran a g35 auto coupe I had 3ppl in my car he had two, he had I/Cat/E ... i have cls 6 i/tb spcr/ headers we ran like 7 times from a stop i would pull about 3-4 cars
but from a ~40mph roll i would pull 1- 1 1/2 cars on him.... but like I said I had an extra person in my car.
good luck they are pretty quick but i wouldnt be scared = D

Do you have mods? If you're both stock he should win, but that's if he can shift. He's rated at 280 hp and it's a stick.
The maxima is 255 hp and weighs 3579 lbs. It's way bulkier then the 02,03.
good luck street racer.

According to one of the members in the TL forum, who's a owner of a G35, he said that 1st gen G35 sedan is as fast as a G35 coupe. Nissan simply rated them differently for marketing purpose, but the engine is essentially the same in both cars. He said that in reality G35 sedan is at around 275hp at the crank, 260 is underrated, while 280 of the coupe is overrated.

^if you go by numbers from mag (C/D, motortrend, etc), it's about 14.6-14.8s. But apparently those times were obtained in full auto mode, and the G35 auto shifts early. So in reality they are more like 14.4. And one of our members got 14.3s in his almost stock 03 G35 5AT. 6MT actually isn't much faster (unlike TL/CL) because the weigh difference is much less, and the abundance of torque kinda offsets the lack of an extra gear. Also the 5AT in the G35 has shorter gear ratios (at 60mph in 5th gear, the rpm is higher than the TL/CL 5AT). Also Honda builds some of the best MT in the world, but their AT isn't that good.
unfortunately the G35 does not respond to mods as well as the the 2nd gen CL/TL. for what its worth, the intake i had at the time was only hurting my performance due to the fact that MOST aftermarket intakes makes the OEM ECU go crazy. Of course there are a few that help out but people have dyno/track proven that the stock intake with a K&N filter gives the most gains.
the only real performance part i had at the time was the intake plenum spacer which only adds around 4-7hp and the tires i was running on was the OEM tires with less than 35% in the rear. not trying to make any excuse but just giving you an idea of why i ran a 14.1 @99 with a measly 2.3 '60 with intake/plenum spacer.
on the other hand i did a '60 test with eagle f1 tires/exhaust/test pipes and managed a 2.0 '60 with the GTech calibrated at the track (mason dixon dragway) so i would imagine that my ET should be down a few milliseconds. still haven't been to the track since, hopefully this summer.

victor you may be able to beat a 350z from a 40 roll, but think about anything else. They will destroy a cl-s mt from a dig and I would bet on one from a 60-70 roll too. My dad has a 350z and it pulls hard through 3rd and off the line
the conclusion is that i'll lose to a g35 with my cl-s. although i have icebox and c.tech exhausts, will they be of any help ?? if i still race him : SS or floor in auto or gate shift ??
you should race him. if hes not a good driver it would be hard for him to pull stock times on mags. the rated 14.2 for the g35 coupe 6mt was the best run that nissan pulled. when i had my 01 CL-S i lost to a friends g35x with intake by 2 car lengths. but then again once i got my g35 coupe 6mt i beat him by half a car and at the time he had i/e/h/ecu and a bad tune.

My 01 Cls with the usual mods will walk my wifes G with ease. The G's are strong out of the hole but an unmodded CLs will pull on it after 30 mph
