Question 01 CL-S AT to 6MT?

hello all! i'm new to az.

Got my 01 LCS almost 2 years ago.

1st tranny died several months after i got it (@ 51K)
2nd died two days ago (@96K)

I didn't know about these forums or the tranny recall until my 1st tranny died. If i found out about the tranny problem, i probably would have never got an AT.

This car is a blast to drive and i really dont want to part with it. I will be approaching the crucial 100K mile mark. Even with this 3rd tranny, its not a question of IF, but WHEN.

And WHEN it does come, i really dont wanna have to keep on paying for a new tranny every 20, 30 or even 40K. I will hopefully be getting my car back in 5 or 6 working days and really dont know what to expect.

I spent most of last night reading through these forums, but really didn't get much info on an AT to 6MT conversion. Is it a possible notion? Has anyone ever done it? If so, did you encounter any problems and how much $$ did it set u back? Any help, advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

if you're done a search and read up on various threads, you'll notice the unanimous decision is that it's just plain NOT worth it.

the conversion isn't popular at all and you're better off just trading your AT in for a MT.

With the resale value of the car, it just isn't worth it. Plus if you ever plan on selling the car, there may be controversy on why there is a 6MT when it wasn't produced that year (makes less people interested and more weary of your car)

Buy a 6MT. I did the switch and love it

Yeah more $$ then trading it in. You'd be better off trading it at 100K miles anyway.

Seriously, it's gonna cost a buttload of money to do this conversion. Even if you find a totaled 6spd and are going to do ALL the work yourself, I don't think it's worth the time and effort...

For a 1st post, you've got some big ideas, but I'll entertain the thought that you're not a troll... and if you are a troll godhelp you 'cause I'll ban your ass...

Very considerate of your tranny to die at 96k! With my luck it would have waited until 100,001.
