01 Cl S 10k Help me decide
Hello everyone, Im a new member looking for some help. I found a beautiful silver 01 type S with a perfect exterior and interior (minus usual driver seat wear in leather). The only thing that scares me is the car has 129,000 miles on it. I checked the car fax and its clean, it is immaculate with every option but navi(if that was even avaiable in 01) They are asking 11,500, i offered 10k and they said they would take it. It is a small dealer outside of philly. Let me know what you think. I don't have a ton of extra cash for repairs so thats why the mileage scares me. But it is a honda.
Thanks
Dave

I know I will probally get a flame for this, but it seems that most people on here have tranny trouble. I have a 99 TL with 165,000 on the 1st tranny. No problems, a 01 CLS with 57,k and #1 tranny no problems. The tranny problem was not that huge of a deal with #'s vs. production. I do not think it is that bad of a deal, you have to make that pick if it is worth that.
Have the car checked out by a Acura dealer and have the tranny fuild changed and ask to see a small jar of it. Get the car lot to pay, that will give you a tell tell sign of the tranny.
Good luck on the car.

rp_carbiz- you won't get flamed for that. I haven't had any tranny troubles either. I wish there was a way to get a realistic number of tranny problem members vs. non tranny problem members just for curiousity's sake...

There have been polls on the very issue above, my take is some CL owners have no problems and the people that do have gone through 1,2,3 trannys, in the time they have had the CLS.
dsn112,
I know its temping but, its a 50/50 also i'd try and find out of the 110,000 mileage Mx has been done.
I also think you also need to be aware if things do go wrong other then than the transmission, depending on what it is don't think its a cheap repair. 130,000miles something is bound to fail sooner or later, parts don't last forever.
Transmisson would be costly, If you got lucky with the deal replacing it, labour costs are going to around $600-$900, again ASSUMING you got very lucky with a goodwill replacement, otherwise it would be $2000-$4000+
I'd call your acura dealer and ask them what there policy is with CLS after 100K and ask for a est.....
