so I'm talking to my buddy who has a '96 supercharged Viper GTS... he is telling me about how he got a video camera for Xmas and mounted it to his rollcage... and he timed his car doing 0-207 mph (where it hit the rev limiter) - it was 27 seconds...... umm... he said he was in 4th gear for a whole 3 seconds..... talk about rev-happy.

of course he did this on a closed circuit.....

hm thats quick.. makes merging onto the autobahn easier... lol

 

his car hits 200 mph in the standing mile. he said a stock GTS will hit about 170 in the standing mile. he also said he is swapping the supercharger out for twin turbos, and he said that with the setup he's going with, that change is going to yield a result as drastic as going from stock to supercharged...... i.e. should be good for 0-207 in about 20-21 seconds... ok this guy is crazy.....

Stock GTS will easily run 170mph in the standing mile. The Corvette Z06 completed the feat in a little over 30 seconds at 163mph.

Motor Trend is now Famous for running the 0-5280 and there are a few past performance tests that will prove those numbers.

The E55 can reach it's top speed (electronically limted) of 155mph in ~24 seconds, about a second slower than a 2003 SRT-10 can reach the same speed. Not bad for a four door sedan.

 

They should do top speed acceleration in all car mag reviews, on ALL cars.

im not sure about any times, but a guy around here is putting 885rwhp in his '96 GTS....im thinking w/out a limiter, he could reach those speeds pretty quick....i couldnt imagine going 207mph...ive been 165 in a porsche and DAMN!!!!!

 

ive seen the autothority porsche that was in the MT shootout driving around the herndon/chantilly area a couple times and that thing is freaking sick. sounds nice as hell

 

Yes the 0-5280' test is few and far between, but Motor Trend has done it in the past. The May 1998 issue of MT was a high speed shootout that showed the Viper GTS running 173.3 mph in the standing mile.

GTS's later than '98, for some reason, seemed to be slower (not sure why) A MT test in 2000 yielded the following results.
