*Group Buy* - Koni Yellows

Well, I have been interested in these for a long time, but I dont want to spend the $600 that autocarparts is selling them for. I have setup an opportunity for us to get them for around $500, final price will be +/- $10 from there, depending on how many people we get. The price does not include shipping. I am working with a vendor on this, and I'm not making any money on the deal. Again these are Koni Yellows (Adjustable) for the Accord 98+ and, as usual, our CL/CL-S.

Count me in on this.

Do you have a timeframe as to when you'll have the price and details for ordering/delivery?

I'm in for ~$500.

I just spent a bunch of dough on a sound system, so I am poor.

Well I can only do either shocks or exhaust.

Sure, shocks would be more logical, considering I'm doing springs and sways and the stock shocks won't last too long, but I'd rather have exhaust.

Koni yellows are what I would get though (after having been in JZ's CLS).

So I definitely support this group buy, even though I can't afford to participate.

Would anyone care to elaborate on the benefits and drawbacks of these shocks? Ride quality?

Also, are the shocks different based on the height of each person's car? (i.e. Comptech Springs vs. Eibach Sport/OE/ProKit vs. Stock Height)

Chod...

The answers to these questions would be good for your FAQ. (Have we told you that you are doing a great job so far. )

so you guys can read up on some reviews.

my understanding is that there are ride & height adjustable. so you can potentially go even lower than where your springs put you right now.

so whith-out having to cut the springs or chang them for shorter springs, we could go lower with the same 'lowered' spring. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

bingo. putting these on with your current spring setup will allow you to lower your ride height w/o doing anything to the spring.

Actually according to JZ he said, after the koni's the rear was raised just a tad. he has comptechs and when compared w/ mine there was a little noticable differance.

but since you can adjust the shocks I would of gotten them, Im' broke too after using my saved up money for tires on a Digicam.

OK, I will fill you in on the Konis:

First off, they are NOT height adjustable on our car without banging out the metal above them. On the TL (which they are made for) there is one perch that you can use to lower the car using STOCK springs only. Koni warns you that using lowering springs and their shocks at the lower setting is harmful and will not be covered by warranty. So, no go on lowering your car with them, that is unless you want to bang out the area above the shocks (and, truthfully, I don't think this is even possible).

Stock ride height stays the same, my wheel well gap just looked a bit bigger b/c of the lower profile tires.

Ride quality is unmatched, especially if you have springs. On their lowest setting I'm sure you will be as soft, if not softer than stock. I have my fronts at 3/4 and my back at almost that and it's still not stiff enough if I want to do spirited driving. No more bouncing at all.

The fronts can be adjusted by just opening the hood while the backs have to have the rear seats taken out.

Now, not to rain on the parade, but if you are going to get these make sure you have someone who will do them at a reasonable price. Acura dealers charge 2 hours labor per strut!!!!!!!!! You will not need an alignment once they are done.

In short, they really are awesome and the car feels like it should--no bounce, no bottoming out, just nice quick recovery after hitting bumps. And the good thing about the ride quality is that you can make it anything you want so you can't go wrong with that.

JZ - thanks for the info.

I have been waiting to put my springs on to do shocks at the same time. It is basically the same amount of work. I've just been waiting for a good price.

I own the Koni Yellows and second what JZ said about NOT being able to lower your car more if you already have lowering springs.

I think we can do both the preludes. These are koni yellows not the tokico's. Rumor has it that the koni's are a lot better

Looks like the prelude guys can get in on the group buy, but it's gonna cost them about $20 more than us, even though they are about the same retail price. It is the best I can do. Let me know.
