***Question about Stock 02' Road Lamp Housing***

Hey Guys,
Ok, whats the deal with the road lamps. I have an 03 CL-Type S and want to put the road lamps on, but I have been hearing bad things about them. I would like to know exactly what happens to them if you put a bigger bulb like H3, H4 fog light bulb? Which part get destroyed or does the whole thing get fucked up. Also, is the lens glass or plastic? The reason I am asking this is because I have a friend who works at a machine shop and he said he can fabricate me new road lamp housing so we can put a bigger bulb in there instead of the cheap ass one! So want I need from you guys is if you are not using your road lamp housings, can you send them to me, I will pay for shipping and you will get a bomb discount on the new housings when made. My friend told me he needs them to be able to form a proper mold. So who is in? Please let me know. I want to do something tight for all of you, and I think this is very doable. Please help me out, so I can help all of you out in return.

ill tell u what i know...the clear lense is plastic

the aftermkt bulbs u can get that still fit in the stock housing where there is no cutting involved will eventually discolor and burn the roof of the housing, but it's no big deal b/c u would have to do a handstand to see it

My PIAA's are holding up fine in the plastic...

Look on ebay...you can pick them up cheap...Hell, brand new they're only $35/piece. I'm sure you can pick some up cheap.

I installed '02 CLS roadlamps on my '03 CLS 6sp more than 6 months ago. I've been running with PIAA 19224 bulbs without any problems. There match fairly close to the OEM HID headlights.

Sup Bro,
I know about the PIAA 19224 but I have never seen how bright they are. I heard they look like the HID's but are not bright at all. Is this true. Let me know hommie. I am looking for brightness, possibly brighter then the stock HID's.

They are certainly not as bright as regular fog lights, but they are about 5 times brighter than stock bulbs and match the color of the HID lights. See picture above... that's how my car looks...

Actually, that pic doesn't do the bulbs justice, IMHO.

I think they look much brighter in person.

But, yeah, they aren't as bright as real driving lights...
