Yoko ES100, Avid V4S, YK420

I need answers/help ASAP....This is posted in the wheel/tire section but no responses so far!

Mainly looking for a tire that handles better and is quite or quiter than stock (not worried about tread wear)

Only $2 seperating all three tires. I can get them out the door for $404 at discount tire. Am leaning towards the ES100

Need some real life experience and info from people.

Thanks

I have the ES100s and they aren't not as quiet as stock but they do handle great. I seriously doubt you'll get a performance tire more quiet that an all-season b/c the side wall is harder and you're putting more rubber on the road.

Anything I can else I can answer?

BTW, I'm running 225/45-17s

Are they quiet when new and get louder as they wear or are they loud right off the bat. The shop is pushing the ES100's on me and I was actually leaning towards the Avid V4S.
Thanks for the quik response

V4S will be much more quiet as they are closer to an all season. The ES100s were quiet for about 1k miles, then they got louder. You get used to it and the performance is quite nice (very sticky), however it sounds like you want the quiet and the V4S will give you that plus some good performance.

BTW, my wife is running the H4S, the less performance version and they are great.

I have used ES100, V4S and H4S (same as V4S). If you want all-around performance and long life, go with the V4S. Btw, the ES100 is a summer tire.

You can go wrong with the Yoko dB's if you want a quiet tire.

The Avid V4s are a little more quiet than stock, but the handling is very noticeably improved. I have no fear of foul weather with them on, unlike the OEM tires. If you look on tirerack, people have rated the V4s dry pavement performance close to that of the ESs....

Also be sure that the tires you choose (I only know the Avids) can handle the load rating of the TSX (92?) if you want to be safer.

So far the ES100s, though just under the load rating spec, hasn't had any issues, but then, I rarely even come close to loading the car to challenge them.

If you are looking at summer tires and considering the ES100s, look at Tirerack's comparison between the ES100, Avon 500, Fuzion ZRi, and some Goodyear:

LINK

The Fuzion ZRi beats the ES100 in nearly every category, and it's cheaper. I haven't lost lateral grip yet on my Fuzions, and they have been MUCH quieter than the OEM Michelins they replaced. Fuzion is a Bridgestone brand, and the ZRi use the same tread compound and similar tread pattern as the much more expensive and highly acclaimed RE750.

The Avons outdid all 4 tires in the comparison, but they cost a little more and IMHO are ugly. In any case, you can do much better than the ES100 for the money.

Well I ended up with the Avid V4S. I worried the ES100's would be too loud and the YK420's didn't offer the perfomance improvements (heard it had a real soft sidewall).
Out the door $382.55
Thanks for the replies, I'll let you know how they are after a little driving.
Cheers

So how are they after you've put a few miles on them? Nice to see a fellow person from Atlanta here. $382.55 is also a heck of a price. Where did you go for those?

thanks
