Yes it will protrude about a 1/4". That combination brings the wheels out 1.34" compared to the stock setup. The next problem will be trying to find tires. A 8.5" wide wheel should use a tire between 245 and 265mm wide. The closest sizes are a 245/45/17, 255/40/17, and 265/40/17. You might be able to get away with the 245/45/17's but the other sizes are just way too big.

You're probably better off looking for something around 8" wide with a 42mm offset or higher.

aye, these wheels are just too sweet to pass... if only I have the OEM ground effect skirts, then the 1/4" protrusion probably won't seem so unnatural... but that's not the case =\ thanks for the advice chief

not only will they stick out but your car will drive incredibly poorly w/ a setup like that

what do you mean by poor? also... if i go with 17x8 sets of wheels, they get more patch on the road, how will the drive be different than wheels that are 18x7.5???

your wheel will pull under hard accerlation/braking. wider tires increase tramlining, and the very low offset cause it too.

O . o can you please go into details on what pulling and tramlining mean please?

8inch wheels have more patch on the road so it'd give increased grip to the road, especially when you corner right?

tramlining: it will increase with wider tires and varies between different brands/types of tires.

pulling is just what it sounds like. the tramlining will pull the wheels in a direction, resulting in pulling the steering wheel so you have to fight the wheel somewhat.

and yes, wider tires will defiantely give you more grip on the road. i'm just highlighting some of the negatives of that grip.

Also look up "scrub radius". Having a finite scrub radius is one of the main things that cause torque steer. Having tires which are too wide can make it too big to be desirable..

Here's a pretty good article on it.
