wheel trouble! PLEASE HELP!

so i bought a set of wheels from wheelnext.com and the offset is 38 and my car is lowered 1.7 on front and 1.3" on back. so when i hit bumps i get sum rub. so i contacted them and they told me to send them a pic of my setup and so i did. but i jacked my car up using a car jack so they wouldnt know it what lowered. but once they got the pics they saw a little bit of green on the springs which tells them that they are aftermarket(stupid me i didnt even notice). so now they are offering me new tires im running 225 45 18 right now. they are offering me 215 35 18 or 215 40 18. or $125 back to get my fender rolled. What do i do?? please help! what will solve my problem because if nothing does i will have to take of my springs.

Yeah you may be able to solve this for free and 30 minutes of time. Look for wong's DIY thread for tucking the fender lip, that frees a few cm of space. Hopefully that will solve your problem. 38 is really pushing the envelope for a TSX with a drop, though. Generally 42 or 40 is really the lowest you can work with. But we have people rocking +35's in some cases so anything is doable!

Just untuck it after

Go next to your wheel, look up right next to the top of the tire. Find the 3 clips, pop the clips off, and tuck the wheel well over the tabs. It'll give you an extra 5cm of clearance or so.

If you're still rubbing, use the handle of a hammer, or something similar, put it against the tab, and bend the tab up. This will give you an extra ~1" in clearance in both turns and being able to go lower..

I'm not sure how you're rubbing on bumps if you're lowered less than 2". I'm lowered bout 3-3.5" and I only rub on bumps with a packed car,(Though I'm running +45 offset).
I can only assume that you're rubbing where the tab is... push the ish up!

i just found a place that will do it for 100-200$ a side depending on if the paint cracks. if the paint cracks he has to repaint it if it doesnt crack it will only be $100. i dont mind spending the money as long as they do it right. the only thing im worried about is if it doesnt solve the problem because he said it will clear up about 1 inch. is that enough. and will it void any warranty.

lol @ paint.

But tdottsx, didn't you posted before and we all told you that those offset + rim size is gonna rub? At least I told you that before.

If I were you in this situation, I would roll the fender and call it a day. Dealer won't figure it out and 225/40/18 is much better than those 2 alternatives. Even that size might rub due to your rims offset, not the tires width.

Another option is to sell the wheels/tires. Then order the correct set the next time.

There is no problem in the world with a solution that cannot be adequately communicated with MS Paint.

Oh as to the thread - dont roll ur fenders it will crack your paint. try the smaller profile tires first. if it doesnt work sell the wheels and get something else...

another problem that could have been saved with coilovers instead of springs
you could have just lifted your car

OR, the OP could've just listened to all of us posting in his "Will this setup work?" thread...

Consider that the OP decided not to heed all the advice the forum was giving him, and then attempted to defraud the retailer on fixing a problem that wasn't entirely their fault

If it were me, I'd sell the whole setup, and then pick up a new set of shoes in the right spec

Thanks for the advice but its obviously to late to go back in time and not buy the rims. A body shop offered me $100 to roll them and $250 if the paint cracks cus he will repaint it.

Just wondering... have you tried doing the tabs yet? If it fixes the rubbing, then all these questions are pointless

Or are you just gonna keep asking what if's?

if the tabs do not work i need a quick alternative so i can tell the company that i bought my rims from what i am doin so that they will either send me $125 back or give me low pro's. plus i am not exactly the greatest at doin any mods to my car so hopfully i will be able to do what you explained, seems easy enough...

Hey wong I haven't looked but does it have tabs in the back too? I don't rub up front but if I have rear passengers I'll rub in the back occasionally on bumps. Dropped just over 2" all around on 18x8 +48 with 235/40/18 tires, for what it's worth.

tdott - even if it didn't, I dont see why the company would be responsible for replacing you tires due to you running a low offset.. good luck with that

Audio - yeah there are tabs in the back; pushing the tabs up gives you an extra inch or so of clearance.. after you push it up, just drop it more until you rub again! !

this is why you SELL your rims - and then go buy new ones...

Dont roll your fenders! its a horrible idea.

is it rubbing in the front or the back? i assuming the front, so all you have to do is bend those tabs up. ill look for a picture, i remember seeing it somewhere.

It seems that OP isn't taking any advice regardless, and is pretty set on rolling the fenders..
Wasted my all 5 minutes on that drawing

It could save you that 250$..

+1

(1) try wong05tsx's tab option
(2) if (1) doesn't work, try fender rolling
(3) if (2) doesn't work, sell your wheel / tire package

I don't see why you're trying to entertain other options... when...

doing the tabs will take you 10 minutes at most... and it's FREE

so I guess it's 18". However, it seems like tdottsx and his shop doesn't know much about the correct SIZE, because obviously tires size does not help to avoid rub @ all; and if the rims are 18X8 (guess) or 18X8.5 +38 there's NO WAY it would fit without fabrication. It's funny how his shop recommend all those 18" tires size that does not match perfectly for a TSX, 215/35/18 is off by 6% lol
