To those with offsets lower than +45

When going from an OEM offset of +55 to a noticeably lower offset (+40 to +45), did you notice any changes in the steering qualities?

Lowering offset increases the scrub radius, which affects on center feel and the steering wheels tendency to recenter itself.

Have any of you noticed any subtle or obvious changes?

Thanks
Aamir

You will get more torque steer w/ a low offset and grippy summer tires. It also gives a lot more feedback, which is good or bad depending on how you like to drive. I don't think it changed the recentering of the steering however

i've had a number of different wheels, but my 18x7.5 +42 225/40/18 w/ summers had the most torque steer (and grip). 17x7.5 +43 225/45/17 w/ all-season performance, drove like normal. 17x8 +45 (oem TL) 235/45/17 w/ oem rubber, drives normal but has more road feedback w/ the wider patch. Going from 215 to 235 is a big jump, the steering feels more weighted which I like.

Which which do you have on the car right now?

On my Type-R I noticed a large drop in "return to center" and on center feel when I switched to lower offset wheels and new tires. I am trying to figure out if it is more a fault of the tires or the wheels.

the OEM TL wheels, from my experience its a combination of both offset and tire size/type. I think w/ a med. low (45) offset and mild tire it'll be like stock.

Is it normal for our ride to pull little bit to the right when you take off hard not launching just hauling-ass off the line..

I have 225/40/18 with 40 offset and feel more torque steer when I step on gas hard when making a turn from stand still abd also the car tramline more but may be just because of wider tire However, the car really grip way better with the summer. The biggest draw back is the tire is way too loud!

any rubbing with the 235's? i noticed that youve got quite an aggressive drop which is why im asking.

I'm running a 17x8 with 235/45/17 summer only performance tires and I have noticed a trace more torque steer, though not enough to be problematic. The wider, stickier, and generally more aggressive summer rubber definitely tramlines much more than the stock tires.

some in the front, not much however, one thing that helped a lot was moving the fender liner inside the fender, which gives you a couple mm more room since the tire no longer hits the clips and plastic
