I want to know what do you guys think of these tires (if you have them)? Tirerack.com ranks them at #9 on their survey list of tires. These fit the stock rim and stock tire size.

I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to get new rims/tires (18's) or just upgrade the stock rubber.

I'm thinking about getting these for my new 18s. It's a lot better than Kumho Ecsta 712, and better treadlife too 320AAA. The other option I'm considering is Kumho ASX, ultra high performance all-season. The main reason why I am most definitely going with these is because of the higher tread life, 420 AAA. Otherwise, SPT should outperform the ASX by a slight margin since it's a Summer tire. Oh and more noisy too if that's one of your concerns.

Are the Ecsta SPTs the same thing as the Ecsta Supras? If so I have them...and I a quite happy with them.

Nope, the Supras are different than the SPTs.

I just bought a set from Tirerack so I change my 215/50 Avons. I selected 225/45/17 and the price $83.00 seems good. Let you know about the diferrences in ride to you guys.

To put it into simple words. Supras are previous gen and is soon to be discontinued, while SPT and ASX are the newest generation from Kumho with newer technologies.

i'm strongly considering these in a "225/45R/17XL - BW - 94Y - 10.1" spec for next summer.

I just got these recently after my 712's wore out. I'm not impressed with them. They squeal a bit when worked hard. Grip is slightly under what the 712's were. Thank jebus I didnt have to pay anywere near asking. I should have just went with another set of 712's, but these will have to do.
