Tein Flex or Tein CST?

Tein Flex or Tein CST?
I am graduating high school soon and as my graduation gift, i was going to get some new coilovers.
I am relatively new to suspensions so i was wondering if anyone would be able to help me choose which coilovers to get.
I want to lower my car a tad more than a finger gap on both front and back. I also want the smoothest ride possible with that kind of drop.
And another thing, is the EDFC worth it? I'm new at this and was going to get one along with the coilovers but i was wondering if it is worth it?
So can anybody with either CST's or Flex's help me choose which to get for everyday driving with a good drop.
P.S. I am getting 18x8 Advan T7 rims with 45et with 225/40/18 tires . Didn't know if that would make a difference.

^ +1 and your new wheels will look great. edfc is pretty convenient for switching up the dampening on the fly. but i have a feeling that most owners don't fiddle with the setting much once they've figured out their dd setup

CST!!!!
Comfort Sport for the win!!!
I'm dropped with CST to where my tires are tucking a tad, and I can go lower too.
You'll never need to go lower than the CST goes in my opinion.
It's the comfiest and softest coilover too, the ride is great.
You won't be sorry, buy the CST!!

Thanks for the clarification everyone. I will most likely go with the CST's now.
MMs, your car alone was the reason i wanted to go with the CST's. Your car looks amazing. you have done everything right. All you need now is some rims .
I appreciate the picture MMs. your drop is beautiful, I will most likely go about half an inch higher than you.Once again, you have an amazing car.
I have one more question.
How is the handling with the CST's compared to stock?

thanks kindly.
I have more than new rims on their way though....
wink. wink.
the handling is superb.
it sits much better than stock and around corners it grips better.
being as low as I am, I can't lie, I feel the bumps more than stock, but it's
not very noticable at all.
most say the SS isn't very noticable at all, and to me it wasn't.
but my wife didn't like the SS as much, a bit too harsh/rough for her.
The CST is very soft, and she proclaims it's as nice of a ride as stock...
until we hit a bump or a speedbump or something.
for daily street driving they're great.
for coilovers, in my opinion they're the best out there for ride comfort.
and they perform great too.
I thought that I'd lose some handling over the SS, but no, none at all.
they handle as well as the SS, to me anyway.
not one complaint.
Thanks for the great coilovers Marcus (Heeltoe) and Blair!!

The reason why CST feels softer than SS is because of the superior dampers. At low speeds, large bumps are absorbed much better by the CST's microvalved dampers when compared with SS. Same thing happens when you compare Monoflex with Flex.

Well thanks again for the info everyone, especially you MMS. You have been a huge help.
I will probably end up ordering the CST's Monday.
I will post pics when i get them installed, and again when I get my rims.(in about 60-90 days because i had to special order them)

MMsTSX, you and I have the same subtle wheel gap reduction and we both do not like the 09 TSX! We must be brothers separated at birth no? LOL J/K
Your car is modded in a subtle way thats perfect IMO.
Except I'm dropped on TEIN Basics Coilovers.

Definitely get them. You'll wonder why the car didn't come with these in the first place. I haven't had my EDFC unit in my car for over a year and a half, but when I did have it in, it's always fun to switch up the settings depending on what kind of road your on. But once you find a setting you like, your always going to leave it on that...
MMsTSX,
I noticed yours say GKA42-1A9C2 CL7-F [Production#10009]
Mine say GKA43-1A9C2 CL7-R [Production #10002]
I wonder what differences the newer models have other than 'dust boots'

Ok, one, they are not going to be raising the price again any time soon. The did a bump in feb and a bigger jump in may. Besides that they have not increased since they came to the US over 5 years ago.
And it was nowhere near a 43% increase on all parts. Try not to exaggerate. It was more like 20% on average.

$1400!!!!??!?! dude, thats a LOT. is it really THAT worth it to dish out that much for comfort? any cheaper alternatives on a more comfort ride? i dislike the stocks cause its so bumpy on the road

Actually this is a pretty reasonable price to pay for a high quality coilover. Mono-tube, rubber upper mounts, adjustable firmness. Adjustable ride height...
You can get away with a less expensive setup and get much of the same performance both in ride and handling, but the extra features of the CST are going to shine through for the more discerning drivers.
But keep this in mind, if the stock suspension feels firm to you, changing the parts for aftermarket ones is not going to make it any softer. This is something you might have considered before buying this car, in truth. We are only talking about more ride comfort as compared to other aftermarket suspension. The CST is not going to be more or less comfortable from stock, if I am not mistaken.

If you think the TSX is bumpy and stiff, you definitely bought the wrong car.

i sat in a toyota prius and the suspension felt less bumpy than the tsx. i dont really want to spend 1400 on handling because i dont go on tracks and i dont turn at 30mph. i want comfortable suspension as if i was riding in a lexus or mercedes. i know i know, the tsx cant really be compared to those cars, but for 1400 on suspension, id pass if it isnt much more comfortable than the stocks.

you bought the wrong car.
you want to "float" and be disconnected from the road.
like a buick.
wrong car for sure.
nothing you can do.
anything you do to your current suspension is going to make you less happy.
so you're pretty much screwed.

why do you guys assume that i hate the tsx and its suspension? im only 21, im not picky like ive been driving bmw's and mercedes' my whole life. its just i drive a lot of friends and they say its bumpy and i thought getting new suspensions would help. i love the freakin tsx and no, i didnt buy the wrong car. im guessing cause it's a sport/lux car so the suspension has to be like that. but hey, thanks for the advice on the fact that other suspensions wouldnt help. you helped out a full time student who lives on cup noodles save a lot of money.

We are not assuming you hate the car. But you are saying you want the car to feel softer than stock, and nobody to my knowledge has ever offered something like that.
Tell your friends "Too bumpy? Good thing it's not your car then!"

agreed.
as Mr.Heeltoe said, nothing I know of can make the car less bumpy and more
floaty, like those luxury boats.
The TSX is a sport sedan with a touch of luxury added to it.
so far every suspension adjustment I've heard has gone in the opposite direction
as you want.
the CST is probably your best bet, and it has probably the softest spring rate,
along with some top quality monotube dampers.
but it's not going to make the car less bumpy than it was stock, no way...
to sum it all up:
if you don't mind the gap between your tires and your fenders, don't modify
your suspension at all. leave it be, it won't get any less bumpy. sorry.

any comments on the a-spec suspension?

CS on the softest damper setting is softer than stock.
My percentage of "43" was suppose to read 21% (typo) and it is based on the price that Tein CS was when I bought it when it was first released, compared to the price now.

I don't have the EDFC yet, so I haven't messed with the dampers at all.
I have them set to 10/16, so I could go a fair amount softer.

I have another question regarding dropping my car on the CST's...
Would I be able to achieve a 1 and a half finger gap with these with 18x8 rims with a 45et, and 225/40/18 tires?
I'm sure i could achieve the actually drop but I was wondering more so if I would rub or have any issues with that kind of drop?

PLEASE tell me that statement is from experience and not word of mouth. if you are actually telling the truth, i would definitely buy the CST and put it on the softest damper setting. FINALLY a shed of light on softer suspensions

why not 235/40?
225 is too small for an 8 inch rim.
you can achieve any gap you want with the CST.
yes, rex speaks from experience, he owns the CST's and has them on his car.

I got 225/40/18 tires because it is close to the matching size for oem.
Ya i knew you could drop the CST's as much as you wanted, I was just wondering if I would have had rubbing issues.
