Tein Basic Ride Quality?

Just wanted to get some opinions of people that have the Tein basics on their TSX. Whats the daily ride like compaired to stock? Good without being able to adjust damping? Whats the range for the ride hight?

I've had Comptech springs sitting in my garage for quite some time now, but I've been concerned about blowing out the stock struts, then having to go back and install Koni's anyway and spend just as much as the Tein basics, but twice the work. But, if you guys think damping is important, then I might consider the Tein SS.

my tein SS are sitting in my living room right now. I'm installing them in 2 weeks. I think demiroc just had his basics installed last week.

So you bought the SS's huh. I know you autox, was that the main reason why you wanted to adjust damping?

, but also because I want a pretty aggresive drop, and I think you really need to customize the dampening tohave a good ride. the flex allows you to adjust the shock stroke as well, but for the price I thought i'd try out the SS first.

I see. So I guess thats why im wondering how the Basic's hold up on a moderate or aggresive drop.

Im pretty sure I dont want an "aggresive" drop, so im guessing 1.5-1.75" drop or so. Basically just enough to get rid of some gappage, without worrying too much about speed bumps and such.

Well, basics will lower the TSX 2" in the front and 1.6" in the back right out of the box. You can raise and lower a little from there. It will handle the drop fine.

All the TEIN coilovers are a short stroke design, so they are made for lowering!

So far my stock shocks with eibach prokit is running fine, with 5 months on the previous owner and I've already put 1 more month on it, it seems fine. Hopefully it'll last me another year or so, considering that I don't drive that aggressively.

Yea, but once those struts do give out, your probably going to buy aftermarkets. And since I drive aggressive, I'd rather pay now then pay later.

So no one has Tein Basic's out there?

So, it seems like you wanted to try out the Tein SS first. I wonder what you're gonna do with them when you decide to upgrade to the Flex

Joerockt, that's one way to save an additional charge if you have them installed at a shop.

Right now I'm deciding if I should go with Eibach Prokit/Koni Neuspeed or Tein Basics. One setup will allow me to adjust the dampening while the other for height adjustment. Which one do you guys think will be more suitable for non-track, mainly aggressive street driving?

I'm looking for answers too. I'm debating if I need the Tein SS or could I just go with the Tein Basic. I'm not planning to auto X or anything, maybe in the future, but not on a regular basis.

How important is dampening?

I have my answer now since they've been installed on my car for a few weeks now. IMO, I think the ride is fine. You only really feel the bumps and dips when you hit the bigger ones. Otherwise, I would say its stiffer then stock, but not by much.

It is not as important as people make it out to be. Generally, people set is and forget it. It is about as nice to adjust dampening as it is to have a power seat.

Yeah, it is nice, but you don't really use it that much.

Overall, I think the majority of people here would be totally fine with the Basics. In the limited drive I had in Joe's car, I can say that I am going to put these on my own car. They are perfect for car's that you want to handle better than stock and you want to drop a little. The flexability of making the car as high as you want, especially with the different wheels people like to run and the different areas people live in, out weighs the need to adjust dampening.

I DO

All I can say about basics.. they are a very nice setup, almost stock like ride.. and they’re height adjustable.. and NOT damping adjustable..

The one complaint I have from them ..it’s that you might hear little rattles coming from the rear set .. and that is the spring coil hitting each other..
