Thumbs up Sumimoto HTR+

Have about 300 miles on them now. Freeeeakin' amazing. No more wheelspin in rain at every launch, VSC comes on about half as often when cornering. Still a little wheelhop during hard launches on dry pavement but a huge improvement.

Also, road noise seems the same or less. I highly reccomend these tires. There's a special going on now at tirerack for $79 each. My acura dealer matched that price and put the sumis on for $79 + $25 install. St. Louis Acura.

edit: sumi htr+ are all season

They're good when they're new but once they're 1/3-1/2 worn they really start to suck......

They're a very cheap tire and IMO they live up to a cheap tires standards.

Tireguy, what would you recommend for a replacement tire; all-season(or 3 season - not much winter in Houston, TX) comparable or better than OEM?

Sorry to be so blunt but you have to be crazy to put
H-rated tires on this car.

H rated means that test tires ran 10 minutes at 92 mph
in a labratory.

A whole lot different than real world, all day in summer
temperatures.

The car comes with V rated, many replacements are
available in the higher W rating.

What are you talking about

H rated means the tire is rated to sustain 124 MPH under full load for up to an hour. Hell even S speed rated tires are good to 118 and your probably going to have a problem finding a summer or all-season tire that has less then a H speed rating in the size for the TSX.

A higher speed rating or even V is a little over kill on this car, don't get me wrong I put V's on my car when I replaced them, however I would have put on H's if they were available. First of all the TSX is not fast enough(in particular with me behind the wheel) to need a serious speed rated tire, secondly the car is not heavy enough to create that much heat thus making speed rating less important. And finally where are you going to drive even 124MPH for over an hour with this car? If you are on a track you should have a serious set of racing wheels and tires, that aside this is not a good track car- IMO- with out serious modifications. If you were to argue about reinforced tires and extra loads I could understand that, however, I see ZERO problems with running a H-rated tire.

Tireguy-- Not to jack the thread, but here's another question for you if I haven't already asked enough. I have Nitto NT-555's for my wheels. They're still stickered(not on wheels yet) and I am wondering...should I pay the restock fee and return em to get some bridgestones....re-750, or keep what I got...????
What's your personal opinion on the Nittos????....

SPEED RATINGS CHART
SPEED
SYMBOL SPEED MPH SPEED KMH

S 112 180
T 118 190
U 124 200
H 130 210
V*(VR) 149 240
W**(ZR) 168 270
Y**(ZR) 186 300

Sorry, you are correct H is 130mph.

The point I want to make is tires are certified on test wheels
in labs, they step up speed running 10 minutes at each of the
speed intervals and run the tire to failure. I think it is at
75% of rated load.

There is a bad misinformation out there that the speed rating
means sustained speed. Not correct at all.

The SAE test means the tire was run 10 minutes at each
speed interval up to it's speed rating. It is only required to
stay together for 10 minutes at it's rated speed.

The manufactures do step up into the next higher speed interval
and most tires will fail there.
In the lab they will run the test to failure and I
have seen tires consistently fail 2-3 minutes in the next
level above their rating.

Will that run 80 mph all day in Arizona is not a indicator.

If this car came with V-rating the vehicle manufacture does not
recommend going below the original equipment. Yes H will work for most people who just drive tot the mall but it is stated
right in the manual not to substitute lower rated tires. They
know what the car can do and they provided the minimum tire
that can meet the car's capability, if that capability is ever
used.

Who's putting H rated tires on? These sumis are W rated which is better than the OEM tires.

Sorry to be so blunt but do 30 seconds of research before you post.
