Rays G-Games 77W - Tanabe Coilovers - KICS Project Lugs PICS

The Tanabes have been on a while, but the G-Games have been on about a week. I know a lot of people have the 77W, but I still like them. What a great way to spend part of a bonus check.

Suspension:
Tanabe Sustec Pro Type II
This replaced my Pro-Kit on stock shocks. I have been very pleased with the ride improvement.

Wheels:
Rays G-Games 77W 1-Piece
18 x 7.5 +42 GM
I searched high and low for almost a month for some 2-Piece in 19”. After being told there was a 90 day wait, I went with the 18” set.

Lug Nuts:
KICS Project R40 Composite

Tires:
General Exclaim UHP 225/40-18
I searched and did not find much on this tire. They were rated OK on some web sites, so I gave them a try. I will update on how they perform and wear.

Air:
I went with the Nitrogen fill for better consistency on pressure. After reading the Tire Pressure thread, I wonder if my 34F and 32R is too low.

Here are some pictures. They are not the best since I have not had much time lately.

That's the drop I'm aiming for. But then again, I'm selling my Tanabe's so that doesn't matter for right now =)

Thanks for the compliments.

Well I already scrape the front now quite often during normal driving. Given the rough roads around here, it is low enough for my tastes. I might experiment a little though.

LOL, yeah that is the first thing the wife said when I opened the package in the mail. Those lugs are fairly new to the market and cost me $150 or I might consider changing them out. I guess I should have gone with the R26 set. Oh well …. they work for now.

Thanks again for the compliments.

Sorry, I do not have front shots right now. That is the OEM kit though.

Looks good.
I'm thinking about the 77W's as well.

What price and vendor, if you don't mind?

I looked really hard at the General Exclaim UHPs -- ended up going with BFGs but in that tire price range there are a lot of seemingly really competitive offerings. Anyway, you might find that you'll get a little better steering response from them with 2 lbs more air, esp. in the front. Their reputation is for a fairly soft sidewall.

Looking forward to hearing your impressions as time goes by...

NP, the wheels/tires were from Discount Tire. The package was $1789 out the door. I had them price match the tires for $389 installed in that deal. I supplied the lugs and had the nitrogen fill at another place since DT did not have it available.

They were willing to work on everything but the tax

Definitely. I hope they do well. I like them so far, but only 200 miles on them.

I will keep everyone updated in the General Exclaims. I am off this weekend to put more pressure all the way around. I think I ruined my last set of tires due to underinflation.

Wasup Kenny? Are you ready to give me that blower yet .... LOL
Yeah, I took a hiatus to get some things settled. Thanks for the compliment on the wheels.

Hows your tanabe sustec pro holding up? Mine's still fine but something started to clunk in the rear suspension. I have a feeling that its the SPC cambers.

Nice looking car. I am sure those General HP tires are holding up good. I used to have them on my 19s and they turned out great considering the price I paid them for. Good choice.

Are there more mods to come? LOL

Clean ride. I was thinking about Tanabe Pro II but I heard it only lowers up to 2". Is that true?

Mine have been on since May 2006 or about 10k miles. I have experienced zero problems with the suspension. I have been pretty impressed with them.

Per the Tanabe USA web site:

Front is -3/4 ~ -3in
Rear is -1/4 ~ -2 1/2in

Update on General Exclaim UHP
I have put about 5k miles on the tires. I cannot say a bad thing about them yet. I have been easy and hard on them. I have to admit, I am impressed with them. I even used them on ice one day and some slush/sleet a few weeks back. I raised inflation to 40F/38R and never looked back.

I am sure there are better tires, but for the cash I give them a

EDIT
I also added a set of R40 KICS Project locks. I park in a garage at work and home. Yeah, I am still paranoid. My 97 Accord was broken into and vandalized back in the day, so I still try and deter or protect my property. No doubt a dedicated thief would defeat the locks, but anything is better than nothing I suppose.

Hi,

I'm a total n00b when it comes to cars. Nehow, I wanted to get rims for my 06 tsx and the rims you have caught my eye. What's the difference between 1-piece and 2-piece? I've been searching for these rims and found that the 2-piece costs twice as much as the 1-piece.

I'd pm you my Q but iono what clearance you need in order to send PMs as I don't have permission to do so.

Sorry if this is explained elsewhere, but thanks in advance!
