R1 Concepts rotors
Need some opinions. If this has been asked about before could you point me in the right direction. Nothing wrong with my OEM rotors yet, but ever since I put on my 18's, the rust from all my brake componets drives me crazy. Not too much dust, but just rusty water after a wash or a rain. So I found these

The price is good, and I think they look better than OEM, but I'd be happy to just find something that does not rust.

More marketing speak than of actual substance in that - there's others for similar money that would be a better option.
Try using the search for "rotors" or "brake discs" and see what other links and comments have been posted previously.

PJS, I can't seem to find anything that is close to that price, and (this is lame) looks as cool in a search.
$142.99 for all 4 sound to me like a really good deal. I did e-mail them about warranty, longevity, performance vs OEM, although I'm sure they are going to tell me what I want to hear. For that price for all four, what would you suggest?

The old adage of you only get what you pay for is very apt.
Even if they are having a discount, that in itself tells you they're not considered VFM at their normal price, or they aren't shifting enough. Potentially winding down dead stock or winding up the company?
$144 for 4 just sounds too good to be a safe bet.

I was thinking on simular lines, the price sounds too good to be true so it is too good to be true... though im wondering still, their top of the line set is only about 300$, if those are any good its an amazing price

Actually I just went online and searched for a while, Found a Lancer Forum and a VR4 forum which both praise these rotors, a R1 rep even joined the VR4 forum asking for feedback, 1 person apparently had an issue, and had not ordered the rotors through R1, the R1 rep told him if he pays shipping they will zinc his rotors for free, and check them out to see if there are any other problems, these may actually be worth looking into

Will do REACH, I think I'll be ok. I have had the car since February of '06, and only have 6,300 some miles on it. Im not going to be tracking the car, so if they are at least as good as stock (without the rust) I'm happy with 'em. But I'll be sure to keep you guys posted. Good bad or otherwise, I'll let you know.

I also have the R1 rotors and brake pads. The performance is at least as good as OEM. The rotors do get a little surface rust on them but after a short drive is gone. I've had some nice comments on the way they look. After JAXFLTSX tried them, I pulled the trigger. No regrets.

But, as per my post in the "Club" forum, they've made changes to their website and I'm more confident they're not hogwash as first thought.
That said, I may have also mixed them up with another company who promoted the 45º slot thing - can't fully recall if it was them themselves, another doing the same thing, or the other doing a chamfer on the leading edge of the slot.
Either way, I'm less dismissive of them now than my post above, assuming their website professionalism is not a matter of telling punters what they want to hear, but is genuine.
Good luck, and I'll be watching this space (and the Club's) with interest.

Called them yesterday, and I'm hoping to get them Friday. I've got to wait till my friend gets back from vacation before I can put them on. All my freakin tools are in is garage,lol.

The rotors and pads combo. The pads have kevlar in them. No noise or sqeaks. They've been on the car about 11k miles now. I had ordered the SS lines. They are very nice but I stripped one of the brake line bolts trying to get it loose , so I ended up selling them to another local AZ member. I was using the wrong type of wrench. All in all the setup has been great!

After my carbon fiber lip spoiler not fitting after three times, I'm in need of a mod that works!!lol. Sucks too, because it was one of the best looking carbon fiber piece I'v seen. DONT order it if you come across it online. At least they take them back with no hassle. I got it at ProCarparts, just a warning...

No problem, thats what this site is for.
They did say that it was hand made, and he was giong to send the pics to the people that make them. If there is an "update" to how they are made, he's going to let me know.

This was the first one, the last one fit the same. If they get their act together, I may try it again. It really IS a nice looking lip.

As far as noise, no sqeaks or rubbing noises at all.

Ok, just got them in today. Looks good and packed nice and secure....I will probably wait until this coming weekend to put them on though. I may paint the calipers while i'm in there too.
I dont know what the OEM rotors weigh, but these ARE kind of heavy. I hope they're lighter, but these certainly feel very robust!!

Nice enough in the flesh.
Painting the calipers while you're at it makes sense - completes the look.
Get the kitchen scales out when you remove the old fronts and rears, and weigh them - then we can see the difference, if any at all.

Yeah, I'll have to do that Saturday at my friends house...we dont have a scale. Hell I've weighed the same 165 for the last 17 years. Except for the short 7 months I quit smoking and I jumped up to 180lbs. Stupid cigars, why do they gotta taste so good?

Going to do the install tomorrow around 9:00 am. I'll try to take as many pics as I can, but only if I find something strange during the install. Most definately will take before and after pics!!

I'm lazy, so I'm just going to past this from the other fourm...
Ok. The last thing my wife said before I left, was "Do you have everything?". Well I said I did, but forgot the stinking camera!! My friend had his though, so as soon as he e-mails the pics to me I'll throw them up.
The Install was pretty straight forward, on and off again. I also forgot to weigh 'em, but they are not much lighter, if any, its negligible.
Can you say "SQEAK, GROAN and GRIND?" Man, the passenger side rear was going nuts. I drove it around the block to see if it would "bed-in", all the while watching dogs go nuts, old women looking out their windows, kids running and crying....OK, so that a bit of an exaggeration, but I was NOT going to listen to that. Took it back to the garage, took the wheel off, released the caliper, and found the heat shield was grinding on the inside of the hub. Problem solved!!! Brakes as well, if not a little better, and not one bad noise!!!
Pis as soon as I can, but they look awesome!!!!

They feel just slightly better than stock, but not much. Keep in mind I'm still using OEM pads, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I may try stainless steel brake lines when its time to change the pads, so that should make a HUGE difference.
The good news, besides looking good, I took it through a high-pressure wash yesterday, and no rust on the rims!!!

I have Baer rotors on my Corvette and R1 rotors on my LS and after two years on the LS, they still look good despite the salt that we get on the roads in Michigan.

Sounds like timd38 in NOT having a problem with corrosion, even with the salt. Or at least thats the way I read it. Good to know as I live in Ohio. We share pretty much the same weather, but um, well, we got the better football team!! (had to get that in there, lol)
