If they are soft rubber bushings and no problem, then you don't need to do a thing.

True but those are the type I had and they made a hell of a noise until I replaced them.

Comptech supposedly changed the bushing material. I had the harder material and still got the poly bushings anyway. No regrets.

Black has graphite impregnated into them, red ones don't.

I've the "popping/ knocking" sound too whenever i go over some un-even surface. This noise appeared right after i installed the Tein SS recently. And i've the Comptech RSB installed for a year. Would it be the Comptech RSB or the Bushings which makes the problem? or it's the Tein SS not installed properly?

If the noise came after the SS install, it probably has something to do with that. One part of the install is removing the RR sway links. It is possible they were not retightened properly.

MrHeeltoe, please teach me how to properly tighten the comptech RSB? cause both previous installations(teins SS and RSB) was done by local garages. what kind of tools do i need to tight the RSB's endlink? i hope that i can get this done myself. and also i'm going lower my car as low as possible, do you think a set of camber kit is needed for the tires to last at least one or two summers? (semi-rough driving).

Just got my comptech RSB with energy bushings. It feels great. Definately notice a difference when cornering. Considerably less body roll and it just feels different, more composed in the corners. Anyways, I drove home from the tuner shop with the radio off so I could listen for any noise/squeaks that I keep reading about on this forum and so far, nothing. All's quiet...for now.

I think it has been mentioned now about 5 times:

#ENS 9.5158G if you want greasable - requires modding of bracket & washer

#ENS 9.5126 if you want non-greasable - no mods required other than some grease when you install it

Finally got around to installing the E.S. bushings this weekend. Fixed the clunking/creaking noise I've had for some time. Actually feels a little tighter. Huge difference in driving enjoyment to get rid of those damn noises.

When I took off the old bushings, the finish of the bar where the bushings were was worn down to bare metal. The ends attached to the endlinks are starting to peel also.

Wonder if it's going to rust out on me. Has anyone else noticed this when swapping out the bushings?

Probably not a concern, but I was a little surprised.

You will be better off with a Progress bar if you go to any other exhaust other than Comptech. I think the Progress bar is pretty hard to find. Though it has adjustments, they are useless as I recall.

yeah that is what I was thinking. You already have the Comptech exhaust no point for me to get one I'll try looking. Its another relatively cheap mod that I can afford.

I just looked at the new and old comptech bushing pictures and they are different then the progress ones.

The inside of the comptech ones are flat. The progress ones have groves and channels for grease ot sit in without squishing out.

Just swapped out my bushings on my CT RSB with the ES Poly ones. I do have to say that I really feel a difference, but I'm not sure if it's because they are poly, or because the rubber ones were worn out (been on the car for over 2 years/~34K miles). It corners much better and is much more stiff over bumps. I swapped them because I had noise coming from the rubber ones. Overall I'm happy, but the wife hates it when I make the car have a rougher ride. I told her someday I'll buy her a Lexus and she can drive around and not feel the road at all.

My TSX just developed a noise a couple months ago. I've had the CT sway on for about 3 years and a Comptech/Koni shock/strut setup for 2 years with NO NOISE.

Now every time I go over a speedbump or uneven road I hear squeaking galore. Is this the bushings or is this something else? Most of you guys described it as more of a popping/knocking sound. Mine is has a high pitch and quite honestly sounds like the squeak toys my dog plays with.

I'm pretty pissed that my $30k car sounds like a beater

95% chance it's the bushings that need lubrication, but it could be something on the Koni's as well (rubber pieces can and will squeak over time).

It's a quick fix to lube the RSB bushings... and should be done at least once a year to maintain proper lubrication (or you might increase the risk of breaking your RSB subframe mount if it's not lubed enough...).

I gotta do mine tomorrow, it's squeaking again (poly bushings, and it seems to happen late-fall every year so far)

Thanks curls

updates from anybody else? I don't know whether to go with greasable or non-greasable. If I don't want to take the bar off every year to grease it then do I need the greasable bushing?

IIRC, the greasable require a bit of modification to get to fit, but do work once installed.

However, you don't need to remove the whole bar to grease the non-greaseable ones anyhow... just do one side at a time by unbolting the bushing bracket, peeling the bushing off (they have a split in the middle to permit this), greasing, and reinstalling. Repeat with the other side.
