OEM vs. Aftermarket Rims
Is there any difference between the oem (cast) rims strength and aftermarket (cast) rims? I hit a pothole/manhole in NWK yesterday and I thought about how new rims might have been damaged if hit the same way–especially a larger than stock rim.

it is my understanding that anything above 18" starts to get weak(er). also the ammount of tire you have around the rim makes a difference. if you're running huge rims with tires that look like rubber bands then you stand a good chance of bending a rim. smaller wheels using a tire with a thicker sidewall will help prevent damage.

spoke pattern means a whole lot too.
I've seen RonJon's snap like wood before on pot holes.
the OEM spoke design wouldn't allow the same damage to happen.
the less spokes you have, the more in danger the rim is.
that's my guess.
and buy forged if you can afford it.
