OEM Tire Replacement ... SUGGESTIONS ?

Update on OEM Michelin's
After reading the reviews on tirerack and following discussions here, I decided to swap my 35K old stock Michelins with the Bridgestone 960's. It took me exactly a week to replace them back with brand new stock OEM's again.
While the Bridgestones certainly were quiter and improved the ride considerably, I found it to severely hurt the steering response. After flick steers and lane changes, I found the car lazy and found the rear end taking it own sweet time to fall in line with the front. Another side effect was that my mileage dropped by 3 mpg.
I have driven them through the Michigan winter now and had no serious issues. The days the road's werent cleared I went much slower then rest but havent got stuck as yet.
There is no doubt that there are better tires out there that come for much lesser and last much longer. But I was exhausted to do another search and just wanted to get my steering response back so I switched back to OEM's. Tirerack was very helpful in this exchange although they were suprised to say the least.
If I do replace my tires again, it will be mostly likely with a summer set of wheels and tires.

Okay, finally at 54K miles replaced the OEM's, which I don't think are as bad as everyone said though overpriced. They did okay at everything which is what an OEM should do.
I got Yokohama V4S in 215/50-17 and did about 150 miles of mixed driving so far. Much quieter, smoother and all plenty of traction. Hitting the reflectors in the freeway use to cause a thud sound and you could feel it. Now, it is just a slight bump sound and you don't feel it at all. So far I love these tires and make the TSX feel more like a luxury car, which is what I bought it for. If you think the TSX is a race car , then don't buy these tires. They seem to have a slight reduction in initial steering so they don't wander on varying pavement or road issues. So to the TSX racers out there they might say it's missing grip, but it is not. No squealing and a luxury feel. And a 60K miles warranty. I'd buy again in a heartbeat. Should have bought them sooner instead of running near balds for awhile.

Bridgestone Turanza w/Serenity
Switched from OEM to Potenza G009 @30k.
- Better grip (no more tire screeching during sharp turns)
- Way too loud, constant tire drone (highway to driveway).
- Not being XL and only 91H rated probably did not help.
Switched to Turanza w/Serenity @70k
- Very very quiet, comparable to OEMs without the screeching.
- so quiet I can now hear the engine ringing sound again during acceleration
- wind noise is more noticeable > 60 mph, again most likely due to less road
noise.
- Flat-spotting significantly less noticeable than both OEM and G009.

Has anyone used Continental 224/45/17 SportContacts or the all season ContinentalExtremeContacts? My wife has the all-season Conti's on her 3 Series and really we really like them. I am looking to get a 2005-2006 TSX in the next month, want something other than the 215/50's (brand unknown, I am sure...)that will probably come on it. Same tires can feel different on differnt car models. Any feedback on the Conti's? Thanks.

OEM TSX - Pilot P225 / 50R17 {45,000 miles}
HydroEdge P225 / 55R17 {90,000 miles}
In other words, the hydroedge will ride slightly higher than the stock OEM...but this assumes there is proper clearence w/ struts & wheel well.
Thoughts? Think it would work? I'm going to ask my mechanic but figure I would inquire here first

My favorite tire EVER (that's not an ultra high performance) would be the Yokohama V4S....(keep in mind I live in SoCal so the worst weather is rain...)
I can't even compare them with the stock MXM4s because those were the worst tires I have ever experienced in my life....
They are quiet, handle good & last forever...the treadwear on them is 420...Based on descriptions people have left on the numerous threads I've read on this forum, I would consider myself a part-time spirited driver...I drive like a madman sometimes, but for the most part, I try to just go with the traffic...
Based on all the Yokohamas I've owned, these wear the most even, are the quietest, have the best balance of treadwear & performance and I think I paid only $550 mounted/balanced/withWarranty...Costco in SoCal wants like $850 for the stock MXM4s...I couldn't even garner up a laugh...I just walked out....

If you really want to open up the selection list of tires you have two real choices.
Run a 225-45-17 on the oem size 17x7 ET55 rims. Or switch to a wider 17x7.5 rim. Doing this will allow you to run a 235-45-17 tire which has a selection about as large as the 225-45-17 without the penalty in ride diameter.
The A-spec rims (gunmetal/chrome) and A-spec look rims (silver metallic) available from Acura run $1100-$1500 a set.
Another much more affordable option is the tirerack.com which sell at least two sets of rims 17 x 7.5 and 17 x 8 both are SportEdition rims at ET50. They sell these rims for around $100 per rim they have an OEM grey clear coat finish. This is an awesome deal. Run any tire you want for the summer and likely pay more for the tires then rims. Also you can then run winter tires if need be on your old OEM rims. I did this for several years. Before getting A-spec rims.

Yokohama ADVAN S.4. (sometimes noisy ?)
i was in the same position as you. 05 tsx with the stockies balding. Go with the yokos. I just put them on about a month ago. Improved smoothness and turning. Tires look nice with stock rims. Tread looks great from behind. Go with 225.

I just went with Yokohama YK520. 215/50/17. Tires are AMAZING in the rain. No more lost traction starting from a dead stop and great thru standing water. On a recent trip from MI to VA I was able to safely (read: comfortably) travel at 45-55mph in very heavy rain on the Ohio turnpike.
They are very similar to the Yoko V4S:
