Future Problems with THIS wheel setup?

Alrights I'm about to pull the trigger on some gloss black privat netz with a machine lip.

Just want to clarify a few things before I make this purchase.

Privat Netz
Size: 18x8
Offset: 40mm
Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3

I'm dropped about a finger group all around with my 07 PWP TSX.

Tires
Brand: Falken ZE512
Size: 235/40/R18

I'm having all this mounted balanced with TPMS rebuilt and installed for $1400 flat.

Let me know if theres anything else I need to know.

Really appreciate it!

I'd be surprised if you didn't rub with the setup... at 18x8 +40 paired with your 1-finger gap, you'd probably want to run 225 section width tires just to have a better chance of not rubbing. At those specs, you'll be past your fender a tad. Generally speaking, keep 8 inch wide wheels to +45 and above offsets; keep 7.5 inch wide wheels to +42 and above offsets. If you're going to run 235 section width tires on an 8 inch wheel, keep the offset at +48 and above; on a 7.5 inch wide wheel, keep the offset at +45 and above.

Also, just on a side note, keep in mind that Falken 512s are now discontinued, and have been replaced by the 912s. It's actually important to note because the 512s (unlike other UHP tires) had a tapered sidewall --- slanted vs square shoulder. At your referenced wheel specs, that could very well come into play because tires in the different brands in the same size can have different footprints, etc. In other words, even if you didn't rub with 512s, when it comes time to replace the rubber, you may have the potential to rub with another model/brand tire.

Of course, if you're on coilovers, just raise your car up a bit... Hope that helps!

if you drop any more than an inch, like you have it, you'll rub.

those rims will clearly stick out past the fenders and quarterpanels.

if you up the offset about 2-5mm, you'll be more in line with flush.

i found the wheels at buywheelstoday.com!

I finally placed my order on the wheels.

I got privat netz in gloss black with a machine lip

Size: 18x7.5
Offset: 45mm
Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3

This includes 4 wheels with lug nuts shipped to my door for $800!

I'm having america's tires install these wheels with tires which I'm going to purchase from them.

Tire size: 225/40/R18

The mounting balancing, lifetime rotation, rebuild of TPMS for $612.15

My total for the installation of these wheels is $1412.15.

Since I didn't order the tires yet, I just want to make sure I should be running this tire size instead of 235/40/R18.

Good choice, good deal man... technically, 235 can be *mounted* on a 7.5 inch wide wheel, but most manufacturers and guides recommend no more than a 225. With that said, I'd go with 225-40-18. It's still well within plus sizing tolerances (negligible/immaterial difference on the speedo and odo), looks better because of the lower aspect ratio, is lighter, has less tendency to tramline while cruising, and will be better on gas mileage because you'll have less surface area hitting the road.

Honestly, it's just my personal opinion, but the only time I'd run a 235-40-18 on our TSX is if my #1 priority was traction, or I was really adamant about sticking to stock wheel/tire diameter. Otherwise, I can't imagine any other performance or aesthetic benefit to it. If you were running 19s, then it might be a different story...

hey thanks a lot for your help. I know I've PMed you a few times about your flik setup but since edgeracing hasn't restocked on these wheels I decided to go with the Privat Netz. I know its been awhile but I finally saved up enough to finally purchase a set of wheels

I will definitely be going with the tire size of 225/40/18 for the 18's

^^^Hey man, it's all good! I'm glad I could help... I can't wait to see them on the whip. Black wheels w/ a polished lip on a white car are one of my fave combos

Oh... and FWIW, doesn't it feel good after saving up for so long that you'll finally get them on the car?

Running 18X8 +42 225/40/18, 1 finger gap all around b/w tires/fender - NO RUB.

Front - -1 camber; Rear - -2 camber.

Prove it with a picture... I know there's absolutely no way that your statement is true. A +45 offset on an 8 inch wheel is already smack flush with the fender --- I know because those are the specs on my winter wheels. With a drop, your wheels would smack your fenders right off.

why don't you post pics? i had TL wheels that were 17x8 +45 and those were pretty flush with the fender so what was posted above is accurate. i'm pretty sure 18x8 +30 would be sticking out.

regardless, OP picked a good wheel setup. looking forward to the pics.

Post a pic of the measurement stamped into the wheel. There is no way that is a +30 offset. Having run 3 different sets of non-stock wheels on my TSX, I know that a 8 inch wide wheel with a +45 offset is dead flush with the fender and a 8-inch wheel with a +48 offset tucks just slightly.

15mm of offset is more than a half inch of difference and would be quite noticeable. Not to be an ass, but either your wheel specs are incorrectly labeled or those wheels are not made to spec.

^^^I had 18x8 +42, and was still tucked in. Are you +45 would be flushed with the fenders?

How much negative camber are you running front and rear?

I agreed w/ you. It does not looks like 18X8 +30. Your pictures looks exactly like my 18X8 +42 that runs negative F-1/R-2 camber.
