Mugen Wheels
Mugen NR mirror face.
- please give me your input on those wheels specialy if you seen them in person
- Is the mirror face shiny… if so then is it similar to chrome shiny?
I also noticed that the wheel looks dull with no shine from certain angles..is it true or is it just me
(Sorry I used dull cus I don’t know a better word to describe it)
I appreciate your input

well, I feel bad you're hanging here...
I'll do my best.
- nope, never seen them in person.
- seen lots and lots of pictures of them though.
- they are very high quality, very sturdy, well built, and have lots of prestige.
- not the lightest rims in the world though...
- no, the mirror face is not shiny like chrome. Not that kind of mirror face...
- the mirror face is more like machined, bare metal, not plated at all.
- they look dull because in a way they are, they're not polished, just machined.
that's the best I can do for ya.

Their weight really keeps me away from them that and the fact that they are cast! I guess the two go hand in hand. Really expected a forged rim from mugen especially for the money. With that said, damn they look hot.

Does those mugens use a special Nuts & Lock
Im not sure if I can use the oem wheel Nuts & Lock on the Mugen wheels, or should I buy new Nuts & Lock from kingmotorsports for $90.(They come in silver or balck)

Do I need to order Replacement Valve Stem [42720-NR5-00S0]
#18
No valve stem require, it's for looks.
Yes, aftermarket rims require tuner lugs. OEM lug base will not fit properly on aftermarket rims; and tuner lug base will not fit properly on OEM rims.

I ordered the Mugen silver lugs. As already mentioned, valve stems are included with the wheels.
I too was disappointed the NR's weren't forged, but opted for them anyways. They aren't too heavy. They are 20 lbs. per wheel.

What do you guys think of these as an alternative. Has anyone seen these in person?

Yeah but I want the 18" which are a couple pounds more and add to that ~25lbs per tire and i am equal too or slightly greater than stock. I wanted to loose a couple of pounds.

Forgive my ignorance on this subject... but what are the downfalls of having cast and/or heavier rims? Why is it a bad thing? (handling, ride quality, etc.???) I'm thinking about the Mugen NR mirror face (found a used set of 17s for sale). Currently riding on stock.
etarui, what size are the rims in those pics?
EDIT: Anybody have any idea what these would look like on a CGP? Anybody have CGP pics?

Etarui is running 18's (as stated a few posts above).
If you are just putting rims on for looks on a DD then really there is no detriment to running a cast wheel. Most factory wheels are cast. Cast wheels in general are not as strong as forged wheels and are also heavier than forged wheels. Forged wheels usually cost more. I am speaking very generally here to give you an idea.
Having a heavier rim affects braking, fuel, acceleration, handling, the economy, the spin of the earth, etc ,etc. Well I am of course only kiding about the last two but you get the idea. Keep in mind that even a couple of pounds more than stock is going to make a noticeable difference.
I have yet to see the NR's look bad on any color of tsx.

Another question, is there any other special equipment required for these wheels to fit a stock TSX (such as hub rings)?

Just curious. Are the Mugen logo itched onto the wheel or is it a sticker? The Silver Face I gotten are sticker. When I was looking at yours seem like it was itched onto the wheel.

If I had a PWP, these wheels would be on my list too... looks real sharp Etarui ... and I personally tend to prefer very dark wheels on a white car a la gunmetal or black.

I saved this thread with another pic of these wheels. Maybe. Someday.
