how heavy are 18" Tires

I know the stock ones are about 22 lbs I believe and rims are about 21 lbs and 26 lbs for 04/05 tsx

so

if I were to get a set of mugen NR rims 18 inch was last check to be 21 lbs. then I want to know how heavy typically are 18" tires.

I have a 04 tsx so my rims are heavy, but I wonder if I will get any gains in having a slightly light weight but i worry my 18" will be heavier as well which brings me back to square one.

thanks

Cool your a silver me
It depends on the specs and brand of what tire your getting. Generally an 18" tire will be between 18-25lbs. Why not get lighter rims if that is your main concern? Mugen GP has significantly dropped in price, being that they are now available at certain Honda dealers.

Yeah I agree, they are typically that weight range. I have 18x8's and 235/40's and let me tell you, they are not featherweights. So I have been thinkin' of going back to 17".

I have also been contimplating the Enkei RPF's on TireRack.com, because in 18" they are 17 lbs.

Tires vary for manufacturer to manufacturer, but expect an 235/40/18 to weight anywhere from 22 to 27 pounds. The BFGoodrich Sport tires that I run currently weigh about 24-25 pounds.

tirerack.com has detailed specs for most tires, including weight. You'll find it varies. You can also get much lighter 18" rims if you wanted.

^^you can also get tire weights from edgeracing.com

got mine from there. My wheels were 17s, weighed 17.2 lbs and my tires were 21.2. 38 lbs total as compared to the stock 45 lbs.

Don't forget that 18s put the majority of the weight further from the axis of rotation....hence it may negate any weight savings from lightweight 18s.

How will the car perform with a rim size <17" ?
I see Volk has some applications of 15 5x114.3 and i remember someone had 16" winter tires.. any thoughts?

if you were rolling with 16s, you probably wouldn't be rolling in low profile tires, as that may cause havoc on your ABS.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think changing the overall diameter of the wheel is not a good idea. I would expect the transmission and overall setup of the car expects a wheel of a certain size. So going to a 16" rim, you have to get a higher-profile tire to keep the same diameter as stock. A 15" would not only look terrible, you'd have a hard time getting a tire that would match the current diameter.
