Cool Dan Gets Owned (Formerly: Comptech Sway Bar On Order)(Update p.5)

Should be here in about a week.

Can't wait to put it on but I won't be able to test it to it's fullest until I lose the snow tires.

nice! I have a feeling you'll be able to tell it's on there even with your current setup. i've had mine on for about a year and a half now...I should really get under there and make sure everything is torqued down. haha.

I've did this after a month and it needed a little tightening...good thing to check after it settles in the mounts. And yes Dan, I can feel the bar pretty well, even with my winters on. But in a month the summers can come on..:-)

Awesome! I've been thinking about doing this myself.

Dan, are you going to use the rubber bushings or get polyurethane bushings?

I'm just going to use the rubber bushings for now.

I'm sure the polyurethane bushings would help some but I don't want to have to lube them. I guess I just think the gains wouldn't be worth the effort.

Dan, what tires do you have? It really makes a difference if you have something a little stickier than the stockers. I have the Yoko Avid V4S right now and I definately felt more lateral grip (and a little more happy noise too).

I've been saving for some sticky rubber to replace the OEM stuff. I'd like to get the T1Rs when they become available on North American soil.

My PayPal points paid for it so I can't complain even if I don't like it.

Speakin' of which, just ordered my Comptech rear sway and Neuspeed front tie today.

Now if the cold weather will break in the next couple weeks, hopefully have it on by the end of the month.

Mine came from ebay and i think it was around $100. I haven't seen a how-to thread on the install yet but I'll post one when mine arrives.

Ok. You know, I noticed that one one site that was selling it, they said that they come with rubber bushings? You would think most aftermarket sway bars would come with urathane bushings. I wonder if these can be bought somewhere else...

You can buy the busings separately but I wouldn't worry about it. I think the thickness of the bar should provide enough of an increase for the street.

Ok, I just remember that when I had my Tacoma, the aftermarket sways up front and back had urathane bushings. Though one problem I had with them is that about once a month I had to give it a shot of wd40 inside the bushing, or I would have an insane squeaking everytime I hit a bump I finally just put grease in it and that settled it.

This weekend?! Get get underneath that car now! lol....

Seriously, it's not too bad of an install. 1-2 hours tops. I think you'll really like the sway bar though

Definitely post some pics and a little review of how you like it. This could be an end of the summer mod for me.

Ugh, I just looked at the bushings and both are cracked in the same spot. There's a flat side to the bushing that mounts against the car and the crack runs along the entire length.

Maybe this is a sign that I should be going for polyurethane...

Ummmm, I think they are supposed to be that way. How else would you mount the bushing around the bar itself unless you feed the bushing down the bar from the end. If I recall correctly, my bushings were exactly the same way.

Dan, I think their suppost to be split down the middle like that. Otherwise how would you get them on the bar? I remember my urathane bushings were like that too...
