Continental or Yokohama

Hi all, quick question, Continental ExtremeContact DWS (Ultra High Performance All-Season) or Yokohama AVID ENVigor (H&V) (High Performance All-Season) on my 2008 TSX.

I can only speak for the ENVigor since I'm currently riding on them. So far with 5,000miles, I have no complaints. Good dry and wet traction, but no experience with them on snow. I don't track or autocross, but I do spirited driving on the local twisties.

How's the handling on the Yokos. I have Falken Ziex that are on their way out but I am lucky to get 30k on them before the snow hits and I have to replace..I am torn between the Continental and these tires myself.

Do you need a 4 season tire or just a 3 season?

I had the Bridgestones 960as and loved them. We don't get a lot of snow in Albuquerque, only really 3 season weather. I just switched to Conti DWS about 2-3 weeks ago. From what I've read, the Conti are very good 4 season ultra-high performance tire. I’ve seen only so-so reviews about the Bridgestones snow/ice capabilities. I planning on spending X-Mas in Colorado and I thought the Conti DWS would work better with snow/ice and +8,000 feet mountain passes this winter.

So far, I very impressed with these tires. They run very very quiet, lots of grip, and the 55,000 tread life sounds good to me.

+1 on the Bridgestone 960AS

I owned Yoko Avid 4Vs previously, and I have to give the edge to the Bridgestones. I had two sidewall blowouts with the Yokos (which were great otherwise). No problems with the Bridgestones, and I've moved on to Bridgestone RE760s since then.

I have the Continental DWS's on my 07 TSX. I've only driven in the rain with these tires, but they're phenomenal! It should be snowing here pretty soon (Chicago area), so I will update the performance of the tires in the snow.

Anyway, I'd recommend these tires! I love them so far!

I have the DWS and they are amazing in the wet. Dry traction is very good, not on par with a summer performance tire, but for a all season they are very good. The shoulder is a little soft, which is nice on road gaps and bumps, but does sacrifice a bit of turn in response. Overall I am very happy with the DWS, my best friend has them on his S4 and love them. My dad has them on a Mini S and he really likes them too. I recommend the DWS, great price for a great tire.

Another check for the DWS. I have them in 225/40/18 and am very happy with them. I drove them in what i thought was torrential down pour last weekend here in oregon and the tires did absolutely great in standing water on the highway. No hydroplaining at a steady 55mph and the only reason i was going 55 was because my wipers didnt keep up with the rain limiting my vision. Dry grip is fairly good being it is a 4 season tire but like other mention it does have a soft sidewall but you can run a higher psi to compensate. One thing i have noticed is that if you run the tires at from 30-35 psi range, it is rather soft, quiet, and cushy ride, great if you do alot commuting. 36-40 psi range is where i have mine and i think it helps a bit with the soft sidewalls. Better feedback and response but with a slight uptick in roadnoise. The tire shop manager filled them to 41 psi and told me thats where he has them in his car with great feedback but i backed them down to about 37-38psi and which i think is a happy medium.
