AVON Tech M500 vs Eagle RS-A vs AVS ES100 vs Fuzion ZRi

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/fuzion_zri.jsp

This might come in handy since we've been getting several tire inquiries lately and also several ZRi and ES100 reccomendations.

Thanks to jlukja for the link.

I'm surprised the Avon tires did so well. The tread pattern is kind of uninspiring.
I guess you can't judge a book by its cover.

Good info,

So are you planning on taking a turn at 53mph with any of these?

I think the ZRi's are the way to go. They're almost equal to the ES100's in handling yet are far better in the wet. Factoring in the cost its a no brainer IMO. Although the Avon's may be a nice option as well especially considering they have superior tread life.

Tread life ratings

ES100 - 6.7
ZRi - 7.3
Tech 500 - 8.3

I'm still leaning to the ZRi's since they're made by Bridgestone. Who knows what Avon quality is like....

Can I also order some lipstick and shower gel with that brand?

Avon is owned by Cooper- FWIW. I would add the Bridgestone Potenza G 009 to your list, I don't think its much more then some of the tires on your list, and will offer you a combonation of performance and treadlife. Of the tires you listed ZRi, RS/A, ES100 and M500 would be my choices in order from favorite to least favorite. Also there will be a new HRi available in a month or so, if your not interested in Z speed rating and want more tread life it may be worth looking into.

Regarding the M500, they are the highest rated ultra high performance summer tire in Tirerack's survey but they achieve that by getting much higher ratings in the comfort and treadwear categories. For pure performance there are several tires in the survey with better numbers than the M500. It all depends on what you want out of your tires.

Here is their survey

I can tell you the ZRi works on our car. When you stop the car, check the
tread rubber, soft and pliable. But it lasts ok, maybe 35k miles if rotated.
I got 20k off a front set not rotated.

Zri seems to be modeled of the re730 re750 which we know is a great
performance tire. They do this in the industry alot, build a private label
off a common design.

From the stock tire to Pirelli Pzero Nero to Zri, each a step in wet traction.
Zri was a big step. We had some ice and they went much better
than the Pzero did last winter. At least they're useable in light snow.

The Zri appears to be undersized in width, 235/40r18 works better on
7.5" rim, than 225/40r18.

The other tire I am interested in the new all season style Toyo but I
have Fuzions to last another 35k or so.

get fuzion.... one of the head instructors from redline racing told me my tires were very good during the track event. And he knows his stuff, he races semi-pro in events like the honda challenge. I got 235/45/17 to try to stay close within stock range for all wheels so not much changes in odo reading... I also highly recommend kosei wheels as they are made by toyota and used in many professional toyota racing cars.

I wanted to try out the Pirelli P Zero Nero (non M+S) on the stock TSX rims, but nobody has them available.

If someone can get them for me or point me to a shop that has them, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

BTW I live in SoCal in Irvine

taewlee -

You say you have 235/45/17 tires, is there enough clearance or did you have to buy new rims?

Thanks.
