Aspec wheels/tires advice *
Hello,
I have a set of 18x7.5 tsx aspec wheels (offset 55) that I need to purchase tires for. The sticker that came with the wheels recommends tire size 225/40/18. I found a good deal for a set of conti dws 235/35/18 so I was wondering would it be better to pass on the 235/35 and go with the recommended tire size?
Concerns:
ride would be more harsh (thinner tires) & my car would look weird since I'm not lowered at all.
Tire shop tells me I wouldn't be able to tell a difference and both 235/35/ and 225/40 would look the same. What do you guys think? tia

The reason why 225/40x18 tires are recommended is because the wheels are 7.5" wide. That size is shorter than the OE 215/50x17 (the same diameter tire would be a 235/40x18, which needs an 8" minimum width wheel). That said, not only are the 235/35x18 tires even shorter (about an inch shorter than the OE tires, a half inch shorter than the 225/40x18's), they should be mounted on a minimum 8" wide wheel. Oh, and Tire Rack doesn't show the Conti DWS available in that size. Are you sure of the brand/model tire and/or the size? No matter what, I'd pass.

Thanks for your input! The tires are not on tire rack but they sell them here at a local tire shop.. I could save about 50% with buying the 235/35... I will go with the recommended size 225/40/18 instead.

235/40/18. I have the same wheel specs and this is the perfect size IMO. I was nervous about putting them on 18x7.5 (even though it had been done a million times) but am very glad I went with 235/40.
