18" Buddy Club rims are in! Need advice on machining the lips***

I've just picked up my 18" Buddy Club SF wheels, having them installed with new rubbers tomorrow!

These wheels are in Gunmetal color all around including the lip. What I'm thinking about doing is to have a shop polish or machine the lips so that it has a machined/polished lip. Is that doable? I've done some research on this but couldnt find many shops in Socal that does this, anybody know anything about this? If it cannot be polished, I guess I will have to do chrome on the lips instead.

Either way, please chip in your thoughts on this. The pictures will be up tomorrow

please don't do that to the rims, I love how they look when they are all gunmetal and they'll great on your silver car. I guess it depends what look your going for though. I vote against chroming them in anyway, if anything get the lip polished.

Chroming will be my last resort. I'm trying to get it polished or machined first, if those don't work, then I'll have to do chrome. Has anybody done this before?

Keep in mind it takes more than just machining and polishing the lip. You'll need a clear coat or anodize as well to protect against corrosion.

I'm in the same boat as Chris_F -- don't do it. The days of accenting a car's lip are over, epecially the case where we have a FWD offset.

Yep. Do NOT machine the lip. Otherwise, you were better off getting SSR competitions that already come with a machined lip:

Black_6spd: theres quite a price difference between the Buddy Club SF and the SSR Competitions =)

But kaikai, if you wanted a Buddyclub wheel with a machined lip (around the same price), how come you didnt go with the Buddyclub PII in the first place?

well don't mount tires if you're just going to get the lip polished, you'll have to dismount and remount them all over again

I saw these today on his car in person. I think they look pretty awesome as is. Take some pics Kevin!

You know, if you want a polished lip, we could swap rims

As for my rims, I am going with all of you guys and keep it gunmetal all around without the polish lips. The looks it really growing into me, and my friend thinks it looks gansta, WOO! pictures to come this week
