Talking Who's spanked who?? TSX street-racing stories

I know I've done this before, but it's always fun to hear street-racing stories about our favorite car, the TSX. So post all your stories about racing other cars here!!!

What kind of cars have you spanked in your TSX? What has whooped you? Be sure to list any performance mods (excluding NOS stickers) you have, trans, etc.

heh, I think it's an awesome thread and I love to race. This car wouldn't be fun if I didn't race in it. I just barely lost to this Audi A4(he has a chip and exhaust), but as soon as I get rid of these studs and put on my new rims and tires with my chip that's on it's way, then we'll see who wins this time.

So with my intake with the chip your looking at about 235 horses. I think the chip adds around 20 and the intake adds about 12. The Comptech Exhaust I'm not sure if that added anything to my performance.

Barely losing to a chipped a4 is respectible. They run about 15 flat with the chip, maybe even high 14's .

But what TSX chip are you talking about? I dont know of any chip for the TSX that gives 20 hp. Besides, you cant do 20+ 12, thats rice math.

235 hp would be sweeeet though.

Even with this magical "chip" in your TSX, if that A4 is the quattro 1.8t, he's gonna win. Especially one that is chipped and has an exhaust.

You'd be lucky to get 3 WHP with an intake. And the chip? I hope you're not talking about the resistors on Ebay that mess with the O2 sensors.

yeah with intake and exhaust, it's more than 3whp. They say the Acura TSX is about 200 horses, but it's really about 183whp. You take my 235 and put that to whp, it will be a lot less I'm sure. I'll install my magical chip next week and take my car and get it dyno tested with all that stuff. At the same time this shop will look at the car and let me know what I need to do to increase the performance. They do all kinds of chips and stuff and not the ones off of EBAY. I'll compare there chips with my "magical chip."

Also keep in mind I'm running on Nokkian studs. This guys running on ultra high performance tires. At the line I sit there and spin at the take off because of these studded snow tires. Once I get them off we'll race again and see what's up. His horses are 220, I'm not sure if that's WHP though.

Yeah if it was 235whp then that would be sweet. just a few horses from the stock WRX. So that's why I can't wait until the superchargers and turbos come out. Even though they void your warranty I'm really thinking about it becuase this baby needs some more power. It'd be awesome to hang with a WRX. I tried racing one and I got killed totally lol.

If you think the stock 6MT makes 183whp you're going to be very disappointed in your dyno. The stock makes about 170whp. My 6MT w/ CAI made 175whp (about 207HP) up to readline (could've squeezed a bit more out if I went up to fuel cutoff).

I make 235HP you'll need about 200WHP (18% loss from the crank). So far the best TSX dyno has been 183-184 with a intake/header/exhaust. The only way to squeeze any more power out of the system is with a Hondata ECU, VAFC and some wideband dyno tuning. Possibly the Hondata heat gasket as well.

As for hanging w/ a WRX. Its AWD, it'll beat you off the line no matter how much HP you have. Your best chance hanging is from a roll. The WRX will suffer more HP loss at the wheels b/c of the AWD, although its lighter too. I would like to see a WRX and TSX race from 20MPH though.

Got beat by a BMW 238is from a dead stop. Some guys from the car club went to race on the highway late at night, there's a 2 mile stretch where no one can get on or off, made sure no one was ahead or behind us.

I experienced the worst wheel hop ever launching from about 3500. I don't particularly like dragging, I'd rather save my tires for the track/mountains but it was exciting anyways. The BMW's clutch was shot so I pulled ahead, when we hit top of 2nd/3rd he pulled ahead about a 1.5 lengths until we slowed at about 90.

I didn't feel bad about it, running on the stock tires. Even w/ the bad clutch he had an M3 LSD in it, plus the RWD factor. Even though I don't plan on street racing often, I might drag just to get some times. Anyone have advice on how to eliminate wheel hop, either through parts or technique?

Yeah I hear ya. The AWD is what really kills you at the line because of all that grip. After 20 it'd be fun to see who would win. I have a question for you, the Neon SR-T, isn't that front wheel drive? Also on this Hondata ECU does that void my warranty and what's there website. That's one thing I haven't checked into yet.

The 2004 SRT-4 is FWD with an LSD.

LSD? What exactly does that do? LoL sorry I'm n00b to most of this stuff. But anyways, I got videos of the SRT-4 beating the WRX from the line by about a car length. I think they went up to about 100. That SRT-4 is awesome lol.

http://hondata.com/ . There is no chip out for the TSX, but in general they make some of the best ECU's for Hondas. It might void your warranty for certain parts of your engine, you'd have to ask someone more knowledable than me, I've never had one.

Alright I'll check them out then. Yeah my "magical chip" is some kind of divice that tricks the ECU in thinking that more cold air is incoming so it releases more fuel to the engine and more air flow giving you an increase in horse power. Not sure how much it does so that's why I want to get it dyno tested. I highly doubt it will do a lot though.

I wouldn't install it Wess, you're just asking for trouble. Chances are your car will just run rich and burn more fuel. The "chip" can't make your car suck in more air to mix with the fuel so you won't have any power gains. In fact you'll probably lose power.

how differentials work Great site, read up about kinds of car things.

The SRT-4 is great at being a light, barebones, turbo'd straight line car. The TSX is great at being a luxury, cornering, sporty daily driven car. So I'd say the TSX is awesome too, just at different things.

Yeah your probably right. After reading what the Hondata chip does that sounds like my best bet. The RSX chip that they released everyone loved and there wasn't one complaint. Everyone loved the power gains. The TSX chip is already being tested so I'll be looking for the release of that one. It's 600 bucks though . The RSX peeps said that it was well worth the money though. Also the gasket is 70 bucks and gives you 3-5 horse power gain which they say is worth the money as well. So for 10 bucks I'll just put the "magical chip" aside. LoL it was only 10 bucks so no big loss on that.
