Got a link? From what I see there is no chance of survival. If the impact and explosion didnt kill him. Sitting in the car engulfed in flames for that long surely would have.

it was JGTC. I saw this posted on another forum and someone said the ferrari driver lived but was paralyzed from the waist down.

Damn...they must have hit with some force because I'm sure the fuel cell in the Porsche was designed to withstand a pretty solid impact.

That video is fairly old (that's a 3 gen old Ferrari and an old Porsche too). Back then in the JGTC they did not require fuel cells IIRC. 1998 I think it was.

25 gallons of gasoline goes :poof:

You wouldn't think there was a chance the ferrari driver survived that. No chance in hell, which is surely what he was experiencing if he was conscious. But he was pulled from the fire 90 seconds later and survived with serious injuries.

he sued them because they weren't prepared to rescue him, and the accident was caused by unsafe pace car driving. they paid him the $$

Race organizers pay him. Horribly run race, bad conditions, pace car slowed suddenly, inadequate firefighting and rescue personnel available. In the video you see the Porshe driver dragging himself out of his car while some sort of white-helmeted official watches.

At a well-run race, they would have had the flames out before the video was over.

i still cannot believe he survived! Usually 30 seconds after the car goes up in flames, it means death. I feel sorry for the guy either way, but it's better that he survived. F' the money at this point, the poor guy is paralyzed from the waist down .

Screw that. If I were him, I'd rather be dead.

He's definitely had work done but you're right, he doesn't look too bad. Maybe his fireproof suit actually worked?

And I would like to retract my previous statement.
