TSX vs. passat 2.0T
So the other day we were coming back from the movies with the buddies and one has a 2.OT passat and my other buddie has a 08 TSX 5AT( i own a 07 6MT)...they deicded to go at it at the stop light and i expected the tsx to pull ahead after the initial lauch because it has a little more power but less torque and weighs less, but the passat kicked ass, im not sure if the guy in the TSX was going all out cuz i could hear the engine and it def was not going all the through VTEC.
Shouldnt the TSX win? it wieghs less and has more high end power

That 2.0T engine has a tiny little turbo on it that spools up almost instantly. It's a very well designed for around town driving as is evident by the number of models they stick it in. It's still decent but much less of a stand out up at highway speeds.
If you're planning on racing people in your TSX, gird your loins for a whole bunch of losing.

edmunds reports 1G TSX as 3250 lbs, maybe you're lookin at 2009 model?
off the line, a quick way i size up cars is Torque and Weight. of course you can't forget front/rear wheel drive, weight balance, tires, etc, but Torque and Weight is great start.
example (sorry zyuan10)
Scion TC 2008
Weight 2965 lbs
Torque 162 @ 4000 rpm
TSX 2008
Weight 3350 lbs
Torque 164 @ 4400 rpm
TSX is a luxury car with some pep... but i still love it.

ops forgot explanation...
so the TC engine hits peak Torque slightly faster but the real difference is its pulling 400 less lbs, thats almost 12% difference
Now, with the audi 2.0T that badboy is hitting 200 torque WAY faster @ 1800rpm...
dont see how TSX can beat it off a line, especially since you saw it first hand in a passat...
sorry if i am misunderstanding automobile specs, but its worked for me so far...

The 2.0T audi is pretty quick though.. but not that much faster than a TSX.. The best mod for the TSX is the driver mod.. if you have it you should be good every time.. no matter who your racing unless the power is that much greater.

Any pimple faced teenager could race from a highway speed roll. Next time race that same GLI from dig and I bet you by 60mph he/she will have about 2 to 3 cars on you. Well try to race anything from dig and you'll be surprise how tq challenged we are

I've raced everything from IS300's to Altima 3.5's, GLI/GTI's, S2000's, Sentra Spec V's.. I either kept up or beat them.. Even handed a Subaru AWD 2.5 (non turbo) his ars! He did get me from a dig.. but caught and left him by the middle of third. Gotta invest in that driver mod!..haha.

duuude i can believe the sentra spec V and the GLI's....but the Altima 3.5 will killl us anytime anywhere its stealthy fast...like 5.9 0-60....and an s2000 would just rape us like completely the top end on that car is amazing and soudns liek a jet

I dont know why i even posted to this.. Alot of you guys seem to read up on manuals too damn much.. Im not comparing car and driver numbers..haha. We are talking real road scenarios. And i never said i beat those cars.. i said "i hung with some or beat"... Let me clear it up.. I beat the IS300 (modded) from a dig.. I hung with my friends 3.5 Altima from a dig. That was from one block to another but it was an auto.. I mess around with my friend in his S2000 all the time.. never from a dig though.. but we are even for a few gears then he starts to pull away.. the 3.5 Altima pulled me only when i went into 5th from a roll. The AWD Subaru was pretty quick off the line.. he had a few mods and i thought i wasnt gonna catch him.. I beat an 05 model TL auto from a dig.. and that was by about 2 cars.. I ran with a random S2000 from a dig about a month ago before i had to replace my clutch cause it was slipping and if it wasnt slipping i would've handed him his ars! Like i said.. alot of people dont have that driver mod! And i dont rev at anyone.. and dont even start the races.. they find me! They look at my car and think its fast because it looks fast.. but im always willing to shock a few people! Vids will be up here and there this summer of some races.. one of the S2000 and one with a friend of mines G35 Coupe.. I cant speak for any of you.. but i can speak for myself.. Im not running with a stock TSX! You should be shot if you are! Keep it safe out there ladies and gents..

The 3.5 Altima you raced, probably had a driver who was clearly an amateur. The S2K also was an amateur. You talk of us talking about magazine numbers. I don't care if we're talking about real world scene or a fantasy world, a TSX cannot and will not kepp up with a S2K or a Altima 3.5. If the drivers of those two cars were anywhere decent, you would be left far behind. I don't care if your TSX is modded, its still not fast unless you have a supercharged engine. And street racing is for losers.

I feel like im in high school trying to prove something to you kids..haha. Sorry that your car isnt as fast as you want it to be.. and i cant talk for you and your car.. but i handle my business with mine. Good Luck with it though. Street Racing is for losers?..haha. So a TSX has 164ft/lbs of TQ so not much difference. Well I didn't buy my TSX to be fast. I knew going in that it wasn't fast. And by the way C&D has the 2005 S2000 doing the 1/4 mile in 13.9 at 103mph. As for the TSX 15.7 at 90mph. So you're telling me your "modded" TSX can keep up with a S2K? Please guy get a life and face up to the reality. By the way a stock TSX does 0-60 in 7.5sec while a S2K does it in 5.4sec. A 3.5 Altima 5spd in 5.9sec, 350Z in 5.5sec, the Jetta GLI in 7.1 sec. And your modded TSX probably can't break into the 6 sec range in 0-60. I know my car but do you? You're full of BS

I've been a member here 4 years longer than you have and not really here to talk out of my ars.. those numbers do mean alot when your comparing cars dont get me wrong.. but "its not the ride, its the rider" haha.. i had to put that in there! I can only laugh this off because you seem really heated for no apparent reason. And even though C&D says this and that.. a few guys here (back in the 04 days) ran faster than 15.7 at the track in stock form. One guy ran i believe 15.1 or 15.2 stock.. i ran 15.5 bone stock. And believe it or not, the TSX was the first car i ever took to the track and that was from my second time at the track. How did i run in the 14's but cant break into the 6 sec. range in 0-60??.. are you kidding me? I'll live with my 14.9 but that was a horrible run. Bald tires.. missed 3rd twice! But still ran 14.9.. I was glad i hit that number but pissed at the same time..

This discussion just seems very ridiculous now. Are we talking about two cars from the factory or are we just talking PrecyseStylez's modded TSX and his miracle shifting verses his friend's that are pretty bad at driving and their cars?.
Lets just all agree that bone stock, a TSX is nothing, NOTHING compared to those cars mentioned before, S2000, Altima 3.5, etc with two similar skill level drivers. This is what the OP wanted to know, correct me if I'm wrong.
Done, now the OP has his question answered.
