TSX vs. 6th Gen V6 Accord Sedan in race
Could our TSX beat the 1998-2002 6th Gen V6 Accord Sedan in a race?
I was just curious because both have 200 hp, but not sure which one has more torque.
I was driving home and this lady in the 6th gen Accord was in the left lane and was driving pretty quick. I didn't want to catch up to her only because its the same road I got a speeding ticket in my 99 Accord 6 months ago.

The 6MT TSX will definately be able to beat the Accord. But AT to AT the lighter accord would win.
And for the record, engine torque has nothing to do with it.

i just raced that exact same car last weekend on Academy blvd.
at first he was in front of me at the light. i could smell the cat converter getting hot in the exaust. i was slowly gaining on him.
at the second light i was side by side and put a few cars on him by the time we were at 60 mph

Ya, under normal conditions your right. But if you neutral drop or brake torque to get the revs up in a race it shouldnt matter.

I think they are about the same. I have both 00 Accord V6 coupe and of course TSX. The accord seems to have more power but it is a 4AT!!!
imo,
0-60, TSX > Accord
highway, Accord > TSX
imo,
0-60, TSX > Accord
highway, Accord > TSX

The TSX is heavier, which is exactly why it will lose (AT to AT).

There is a very steep hill near my house that is about a 1/4 mil long. Do you think my TSX would be able to beat a kid in a shopping cart if I raced him down the hill?

Unless he gets that wheel fixed, he'd probably bail long before he got to 60.

P.S. talking about TSX w/o navi.

EDIT: just looked it up, and the TSX is indeed heavier (by 50lbs).

Just traded in a Accord EX V6 Coupe. In acceleration, I think the Accord would win. There was a good amount of grunt in that V6. Plus there is the saying there is no substitution for displacement.
That said, the handling of the TSX puts the Accord to shame.

I raced a TSX with my AV6 at the track twice - he was stock and i had my system in the trunk. Both times we pulled the same numbers 16.1 and 16.02 ( something like that)

BUT, a BIG NO! Accord sedan is either heavier or same as TSX. I am 100% sure that sedan is heavier than coupe. As I remember, the 6th gen Accord Sedan is 15XX kg. I believe AT tsx is 1505 kg.

I took 10 seconds to do a search and here you go.

Trust me, there is no way a 6th gen sedan weight less than my 6th gen coupe.

Every link i found with curb weight for the 2000 accord v6 sedan showed 3285lbs. EVERY single one. And I never said it weighs less that the coupe. The coupe is around 3000 lbs.

Now, the 2001 may be a different story. I didnt look it up. Maybe they added a bunch of air bags.

3000 lb for 00 V6 coupe? No way, that thing is at least 3200 lbs. I will try to scan both the brochure and the owner manual tonite if you still believe the coupe is around 3000lb.
What next? Canadian model is different? For now, only one thing I can think of, that makes it 100 lbs lighter: you may have looked at the LX model instead of EX. I don't know how many LX model you can find in US, but there is almost none here, b/c the difference is like only 1000 cdn but more things (I forget what, I think moonroof is one of them) you get outta EX.

P.S. Honda did not add bunch of air bags in the 01 model. The changes were: tail light design, front grill and bumber become 1-piece, TSC added, 6 disc CD changer, change of wheels, and driver/front passenger head rest (that's what you call those thing right?)

I didn't really read the posts in this thread to see what the arguing about weights was all about, but anyway because I don't like bickering, here are the official weights for 2000 Honda Accord EX V6:
Sedan: 3318
Coupe: 3259
Got them directly from the source. Hondacars.com
