Smoked by a g35

On the way home from school around 10pM and on a long open road with a g35. I pulled up next to him, and hit gas pretty hard and got in front of him..then he pulls up next to me, jumps a few car lengths ahead. He then waited for me to accelerate and bam he just floored it out of there...

rmatic who wishes he had a g35 engine in his tsx.

well, it's a 1.1 liter difference in displacement. you're lucky you weren't on a race track...

however, the tsx interior owns the g35 interior.

Just wait for a turbo to come out.

The TSX is a nice car, but definately not fast. One side of me wishes I got the STi, but I wanted the sport/luxury of the TSX... maybe the s2000 would've been a good call?

Yea i was thinking s2000 also, but no space in that mobile and insurance would kill a kid in my age group with a 2 seater.

But damn and S2000 would have been fun. I want an S2000 too, but I wanted something a little more mature for now. Next car though...

RMATIC09, you listed Honda accesory oil filter in your sig as mod. What is a Honda "accessory" oil filter? What's the difference between the "standard" Honda oil filter?

s2000's are pretty slow. i drove my friends and i must say i was not impressed. it has not bottom end torque, so unless you launch at some ridiculous rpm like 5-6k, you'll get burned.

trust me.

on the other hand, i drove my friend's civic hatchback with a jdm b18c integra type r motor - that thing is DANM fast! how fast? 13.8s @ 100 mph in the quarter mile fast. g35 that! haha

You know, i was wondering about that myself. I went on handata and bought an oil filter, thinking it was an after market filter that would be better for my car. Now when i come to think of it, its just the regular one, and i was just to lazy to change my sig.

But remember the good thing about the S2K is it has great handling, and I'm sure your friend will take the s2k over his hatchback anyday. My friend was going to do the same thing to his hatchback (b18 swap) when he realized it's better to just buy a nicer bone stock car. Too bad by the time he collected all his cash from his three cars he could only get a RSX-S

Why do you say the S2000 is slow ?? Slow compared to what ?? It is as fast as the 3.0L Z4, Boxster 'S' and 350Z (coupe or vert). All 3 of those cars have gracious amounts of torque and nearly double the displacement of the S2000. The S2000 crushes most of it's roadster competition at a fraction of the price. This is why you will never own one, you simply don't understand the car. I get so sick of hearing "It has no torque".

Weight is the killer - especially at the track - that's why an S2000 can keep up with an M3 at the track.
Back to this thread - getting smoked by a G35 is so

S2K's are pretty fast, mang. I think it depends on the driver. I was watching Entertainment Tonight (:ghey when they did some PR for Fast & Furious, and they decided to do some racing of their own, so they took an S2K and an NSX at the race track. The NSX won, but the S2K wasn't too far behind.

well first of all, i did say the s2k is slow as compared to a b18 swapped hatchback. i can say from EXPERIENCE that the s2k is slow in comparison to a b18 hatch, b/c i've seen it first hand.

and you're right, i'll never own one b/c i don't want one thank you. i would never pay that much for a two seater and a 2.0L. oh well i guess it's now a 2.2L. big whoop. i don't know what you are trying to infer by saying that i will "never" own one, but i certainly am not impressed by it.

and it is not as quick as a 350z. and do you own an s2k? or have you driven an s2k?

i dont even know why you are taking a comment made towards a car so personal anyway. after all, this is a forum to express opinions and experiences.

just b/c you don't agree with an idea or statement doesn't mean you have to get all mad about it.

Check the numbers, dzuy. The S2K is indeed just about as quick as a 350Z. Plus, it is far more nimble.

I must disagree on the S2000 being slow. The first time I took it for a spin I was amazed by the acceleration ! No, the lowend torque is not as good as a 3,5L 6cil, but it's all about rev's in the S2000. If you prefer lowend torque go for the cars with bigger engines. I personally love the fact it revs up to 9000rpm...

The s2000 isnt slow, you just have to beat the shit out of it to get it to preform. Unlike a torque-e v6/8 where its all there as soon as you hit the gas.

350z vs s2k

here are some numbers. 13.7 1/4 mile for the 350z, 14.19 for the s2k.

.5s diff? that is about the same diff between the tsx MT and the rsx-s.

and i know the s2k is a well balanced car. and i understand it handles well. but straight line performance is decent.

and it is not a fraction of the cost of the 350, it's about the same as evident from the link above.

i would personally get the g35 coupe before any of those two cars,

I read the first one, LOL.

IMO if you are looking at a sportscar S2K > 350Z. The Z is anti sporty, heavy as a pig but powerful too, that's more in line w/ a muscle car.

They're comparing the s2k to a 350z coupe. The 350z vert is heavier, and slower. CD got 14.0 for the s2k, and 14.3 for the 350z ragtop.

I did. I sold it when we had our first child.

The 350Z and the G35 coupe are great cars, but they weigh too much to be a lot of fun to toss around. Better for crooozin..........It's all in what you're looking for.

Yea true. Not much of a racing story but i was just on my way home and some guys blinker was on for like 2 miles , so he pulls up next to me and im like "your blinker is still on" he looks at me, then looks at his blinker and in the most insincere way says "thanks"...

Rmatic who wonders what he did wrong?

well, congrats on your child btw.

g35, 350z and s2k are all good cars, and just b/c i'm not a fan doesn't mean i don't see the qualities in each.

imo, this discussion has beaten down to a pulp. there's always going to be a different car that is faster smoother than the next.

as long as you get what you are looking for that's all that matters.

and opinions are opinions. i like everyone else on this forum can express them freely.

cheers.

People are pricks...I often remind drivers that they forgot to turn their lights on at night by flicking my lights at them (note I do not use the high beams) and there is always that one jackass who unleashes his hi-beams in my direction.

I am on my second S2000. I had an 00' Silverstone which I sold this year to purchase an 01' Spa Yellow Pearl with a measly 3086 KM on the odometer.

C&D AUGUST 2003

0-60 MPH. 350Z-5.5 seconds
S2000-5.4 seconds
1/4 mile. 350Z-14.3@ 99 mph
S2000-14.1@ 99mph
Sidpad. 350Z-.88g
S2000-.92g

As for the B18 Civic, I wouldn't run for cover if one pulled up beside me. Numerous S2000 owners have ran high 13's in a stock S under the right conditions. Remember too, the S2000 was not designed to be a straight line terror. The deck further falls in the S2000's favor on the track. The S2000 is about the whole "sporting" experience, the engine, gearbox, chassis, suspension and brakes working harmoniously to put a big grin on the drivers face. Believe what you want, but don't ignore the facts.

Thanks again. This is a photo from last year, before we had Maddie. I used to have all kinds of time to work on the house and keep the cars perfect. Now I wash my car once a month and pay someone else to mow the lawn ........

If I wanted 280HP in my car I would have bought a car that HAD 280HP. You should have done the same.
