Just watched it on TV. What a race. Pierre schooled everyone and had a pretty massive lead at the end of the race. The TSX rocks as a race car.

I am bummed for Shawna Marinus, she did so well qualifying in her new Mazda 6, but had problems with the gearbox. I would have liked to see a podium finish for her.

Is it just me or does Bob Stretch tap someone during virtually every race?

She was doing great in the 6 but I was thinking to myself at the start how long it would be before something went wrong on the car... and like always, it did. For some reason the Mazda's have transmission problems every race, same w/ Jeff Altenburg's car. Its amazing the TSX has held up incredibly well over the season, almost no mechnical problems at all.

It is surprising how much the Mazda's have had problems with the transmissions. I heard them say that for next season, they're thinking of switching to a dedicated Xtrac racing tranny.

And yes, the TSX has held up really well. I can't believe that Pierre actually had a 4 second lead at one point in the race. Sucks what happened about the penalty in the previous race though. He deserved that win, but his team screwed up.

Maybe their association w/Ford has something to do with that?

Kleinubing is running alot lighter than the other TSX driven by Plumb who finished 7th. They'll be alot of weight added to Pierre's car for the next race so I would'nt expect a repeat performance. It seems whoever is running light is also running fast.

if it relates to crappy tranny reliability issues, probably.

did one of the announcers seriously say "No whips allowed" coming back from commercial break?

that's no surprise. we have issues with our Protege 5's tranny, which has gotten some wear from my husband's track time, but we've only had it for 2 years.

I like the Protege 5's, (in fact I like the way most of the Mazdas look nowadays) but I think Mazda is too "americanized" to be truly a trustworthy car. That's not to say Hondas & Toyotas don't have problems, but they do seem to last a lot longer with relatively fewer problems than most others. That was a big factor in keeping me away from the 6.

I believe you're right. Somehow he gets away with it.
