RSX vs. TSX

Ok there's this guy I know who keeps bragging about his new RSX. long story short he traded in his celica for an 03 RSX to a honda dealership to get the acura and prolly didn't get much seeing as it was a toyota he was trading in. Anyway like I said he keeps bragging about his RSX compared to alot of other cars. Can an RSX type S straight up beat a TSX? Mine is auto, his is manuel. If so would it be close or a blowout by either one? I've got an 04 TSX.

RSX MT > TSX AT
he WILL beat you hands down - don't bother race him, you're going to get
You should have gotten a RSX. TSX = wrong car for you

Think about it a 5AT vs. 6MT. Actually AT vs MT the manual will always win. Auto = Automatically slow

Drivers being of equal skill, a TSX 5AT will get owned by the 6MT RSX-S or the 5MT RSX.

I have my doubts about the 160hp 5MT RSX owning the 5AT TSX. The 6spd Type-S for sure, but not the other one.

Yeah, it may be close, the horsepower to weight ratio is on the side of the TSX when dealing with the standard RSX, but the 6 speed will close that up pretty quick. However if this guy has the RSX - Type S that horsepower to weight ratio and manual transmission will be running a clinic on that TSX. My advice, don't mess around with a Type-S unless you want a soft behind

if u both not go over 6000rpm, you might have a chance haha.
tsx's low vtec cam profile is set higher than rsx's low cam profile...
but at high profile (vtec switchover), he'll cream you unless he shifts like a grandma.
theres no weight the weight of a tsx can beat an rsx-s straight up.
plus he has more revs to play with

Nope.

2006 RSX Type-S:
approx. 2800 lbs, 201 hp, 140 ft-lbs.

2006 TSX 6MT
approx. 3200 lbs, 205 hp, 164 ft-lbs.

That 400+ pound weight difference alone is going to kill just about any chance you have of beating him.

I've rode in my co-worker's K-pro'ed Aspec Type S and the feel is similar to my 6MT Hondatatified TSX. Although I think I could hang with him, the K20AXX (whatever) has the unfair advantage of building power after 8000 RPM. He's also got better gearing for the 1-2 upshift where he lands back in VTEC.

the OP mentioned 5at 200hp 04 TSX vs. 5mt 160 hp Base RSX. AT doesn't put down power as well as MT, so I dont think the power difference is great. The add to the fact that MT is just plain better at launching, probably better geared, and I still think the TSX would get beaten fairly easy (I'll admit, "owned" might have been a strong word).

He has an 03 RSX... dude you're description isn't coherent. You say RSX then you say RSX-S. If it is a RSX-S like all others said: don't waste your time and gas. If it is an RSX BASE. It will be pretty even, you'll get the jump off the line on him but once he hits vtec it'll be close (manual or Auto, I assume you SS).

If he had an AT you could beat him. but MT to MT you will lose (assuming you are equally skilled drivers). If you are a much better driver, I suppose you have a shot.

Try !!! to take him out for a race and have a police station along the way...

stay on his back and see what happens .. ^^ ..

but only if you really don't like him . . . . . . but not so good idea to hurt someone like that. huh?

I get aggresive sometimes, but everyday i come back home and thank i had a safe day...
Driving can be very fun and dangerious . . .

i've got a 04' 6MT no navi. sometimes, i ask myself 'why the f" didn't i get AT' while driving, smoking and having coffee, and my phone rings~~~

i think, AT should give you pleasure of comfort.. not a thrill of beating cars on the road.

it's very fine complicated machine you have ... take care...

I've encountered a Type-S on the freeway. I walked away from him at 80+mph. I'm sure he'd kill me from a stop though. BTW I have an 04 5AT w/ Injen CAI only.

No, it wasn't a dream. Yes, it was a blue Type-S. He got off at the same exit and gave me a thumbs up. It is not impossible.

I can believe it...like most 5AT owners know, the car can be exceptionally strong on the freeway. It doesn't suffer any of the disadvantages a FWD 5AT would suffer racing from a stop.

Don't worry. TSX will own RSX. My stupid Acura saleman told me there will be a TSX couple to replace RSX. Acura will make MDX more like FX.

I called him stupid because he told me RDX has twin turbo and the S on the gear dash stands for supercharged.

Me no understand. You.

Are you trying to say a salesman told you Acura is planning a TSX coupe in a couple years to replace the RSX?

Yes, sorry about the bad Engrish No more RSX in future and replace by a New TSX coupe. It make sense since Si is basically the same car. Don't hold me on this. The same guy who told me RDX has twin turbo.

Actually ur right, my dad has heard from many people in the acura company that they are making a new coupe, but its not a TSX, its gonna be like a TL coupe.

I don't really believe it either since the rsx-s has better high-end gearing and a much higher redline. He probably wasn't trying. I would think the tsx has the advantage from a stop since we have more torque.
