If you're a member over there, tell the person who asked how the driver could tell it's a MT that people driving automatics don't rev the car, at least not in park. Unless he was brake torquing.

You can rev it in neutral.

Sorry, but I gotta raise the BS flag on this. No way he would have picked up from 2nd especially from 4k, where you're still miles away from the big power burst, a car length down, and smoked him, let it go until he took another 2 car lengths and killed him again as he shifted in 4th.

Either the guy in the TSX was not racing him, or he is just spitting a shovelfull of shit, because TSXs do 15.4-15.6 and RSX-S barely go under 15's. And he's talking like he had a 12 second car.

Haha. It's okay. I have both those cars. And yes. The RSX-S is faster. But not like what he said.

JeffTSX and/or ClutchPerformer, please tell this guy, with all due respect, that I myself have done 15.68, and my friend, no later than 5 minutes after, drove a 15.4 at 92mph with my TSX. He weighs 75 pounds less than I (weighing in at 230lbs), and is a much better launcher than I. So, yes, a TSX does better than what he has seen.

Thanks.

Yeah. I don't want to call the guy a liar. My best guess is that he raced an auto TSX. That could explain the big difference.

I also posted on there about that. I ran a 15.4 in the 6-speed TSX, and have never tracked the auto (it's a waste of time). I ran a 14.9 in my RSX when it was stock, so the guy that posted that thread was full of it or something.

No sh*t the RSX is faster. Same engine, lighter car, probably a lower centre of gravity. RSX is a smart choice for an affordable sports car and it's not like you couldn't figure out the difference on the back of a napkin. But for a car with practically the same engine, but room enough to keep 4 adults and few bags of golf clubs happy, TSX is no slouch. No way an RSX would fit into my thirty-something lifestyle...

Ahhh ... street racing ... the ClubRSX forum staple. Anything without slips from a 1/4 mile track is dangerous and anecdotal.

Good thing we have more to talk about here ... I had an RSX-S ... daily driver it is not. Fun, but rough around the edges for sure ...

isnt the cam switch at 5.5K in the RSX-S? if so..his story is definitely belivable...the RSX-S is on avg about 3/4 sec faster than the TSX in the quarter mile..that is about 4+ carlengths.. and about a full second faster 0-60... the TSX didnt do that badly..i would've thought the TSX would've been more car lengths behind..especially from a row..the topend on the RSX-S is decent.

Actually, while the TSX and RSX engines are very similar, the TSX is largely a stroked version of the RSX to gain low-end and midrange torque. This is also the reason for the lower redline.

i bet he beated the TSX and made it sound like TSX is as slow as a turtle compare to him

it's quite unbelievable how he said he can beat TSX with 2-3 cars length with just shifting 2nd gear to 3rd

I think there are a few things at play here as well. My insider at Acura, who also street races A LOT, pit a RSX-S (new) against him driving a TSX 6MT (new). My buddy got the jump on the RSX-S but said he couldn't gain on it. Ultimately they finished EXACTLY the same. Then he realized he left the VSA on in the TSX. His guess is that the cars are very equal with the RSX-S edging out slightly.

I think we all (hopefully) agree that the RSX-S or non-S would spank us in cornering... right??

Remember, the fact that a 4DR sport sedan even keeps up with the hatchback should be a quite enjoyable point anyway. More importantly, we have more luxury and style to boot!!!

No we don't all agree. In something like auto-x...sure. But on a track...I think the TSX will be the better handling car.

the only similarities are that they are both i-vtec K series engines.
the tsx engine is a tuned accord engine.

Both cars are fun to drive, and both have their strong points. If I'm in a mood to feel like driving fast and racing aroud town, I take the Type-S. If I want to listen to music or have any distance to go, I take the TSX.

The TSX always feels a bit sluggish after driving the Type-S, but perhaps that is because it is a lower and slower reving car (not to mention quieter). Maybe its all in my mind at that point that I must also be moving slower....

Either way, they are both great cars that I love and would not replace.
